• vw golf mk. 4 v5 1999 - A.B.S warning symbol came up on dash 3 Jul 2012 (Forum)
  having only covered 200 miles last year and have just had an MOT 4 weeks ago. I have covered less than 10 miles since MOT yesterday I took the car out for a run, having covered 3or 4 miles the ABS warning came up on the dash with a red disc shape sign next to it also STOP consult manual could anyone help please

  Hi, The car runs fine when cruising along but when I accelerate there is a slight pause and stutter before it actualy accelerates. it also does it on cruise control when you lift the stalk. It's had a new egr about 5k ago as well as 4 injectors and loom on recall about a year ago.

  Hi have had problems with my zafira and alan has come back to me with directions to the throttlebody which we will be changing but we have reason  to believe the egr could also be the culprit on this one If you run it it ticks over fine,and eventually will cut out and have wait awhile before it will start again we would like to know if the pintle on the egr valve goes inside when its open or comes out as this was found to be dirty

  My son's VW Passat starts and will run (not smoothly though). When driving it has a tendency to cut out. Our mechanic put it on his computer and said that there were so many fault codes that it is not worth fixing. He mentioned things like crankshaft sensor.

  hi i have a 2000 vauxhall vectra 2.0 cdx  with x20xev ecotech engine which is running rich ie the sparkplugs are black a bit of research as to the cause of the problem has led me to belive the coolant temp sensor is faulty what i need to know is where is it located on the engine so i can replace it and are they expensive from a main dealer.

  Ive noticed lately there is water running down the passenger window wiper arm leading under bonnet, when the bonnet is open and u pour water on the window is appears to come though where the passenger arm goes through the plaster hole to the motor arm then drips down the back of the engine onto cable etc, is this normal?

  I'm after one of these up to 2 years old. Can those that qualify please comment on which to go for in respect of reliability and cost to run etc. So no owners of older models need to comment please. It will be a genuinely expensive purchase, so no off thread banter would be much appreciated.So which diesel, BMW 3 series or Mercedes C class?

  Over past two months my engine management light has been on and off, but car running okay. A couple of occassion car reluctant ot start, but did eventually. Today after using the car, returned after 2 hours, car would not start first time, eventually did, engine management light flashing then on all the time, car idle very poor, sounds misfiring.

    Hi this is going to sound like a weird question but my bmw 330cd should run at 90 degs but the temp is only getting up to 65. I share a lift with 3 people 70 miles and sods law it's my turn to drive this week. so I can't do it untill the weekend. the question is if I drive in 5th it will go up to 70 degs. but if i put it into 6th it will go down to 60ish.but obvouisly the revs drop in 6th gear.

  My G reg VW Golf mk2 seems to slow down and almost stop for a couple of seconds when I accelerate from a standing start.. It then starts to pick up but still runs poorly and will cut out when I stop.  I know it is probably to do with the Pierburg 2e2 carb. Fuel pump pumping,  Visible jet at top under valve/flap jetting.  It just seems like on acceleration too much air is getting drawn in and is affecting the fuel mix.

    Our criteria is that the car will be used for a daily 100 mile comute on a mixture of A roads and country roads. Running costs are key as is comfort and reliability. Due to the area that the car is parked in it must not be to desirable to thieves. Budget upto 6500.   Any suggestions?

    I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the Mazda sports model that has the rotary engine fitted and I was about to post a enquiry about the car to enquire if anyone had experience of running this model as a day to day car. You cannot help wondering if the engine is troublefree, when first introduced there was much talk of other manufacturers going along this route, however I am not aware of any others.

    They are the original garage who did the repair in 2010, they are getting on to ford as the car has only done 15000 since the original part was fitted, the 10 month warranty has run out and the garage feel that ford should offer a goodwill gesture.   I was wondering what members feel I should be paying towards the cost of this repair?

  I've owned  a toyota yaris verso since year 2000 and would love to know just how many of these cars were manufactured.  It was a very short run and many of these cars were used as mobility cars. resulting in low mileage, so i think that in the future this vehicle could become a collector's item..So if some enthusiast out there like me has this information i would be most greatfull...Many thanks in advance Les Thorley....

  88 polo with a pierburg 2e3 it fires straight away then stalls, its reluctant to be coaxed into idleing with a gentle rev(bogs and dies)....on colder mornings its taking about 3 goes until i can coax it into a idle...after 10-15 seconds running it gets into a fast idle and behaves normaly would anyone agree its the pull down unit? carb has been cleaned with a new filter i know theres lots of pierburg threads but i cant find a answer

  I'm not so sure its the HID lamps, i think its more a case of those that are not correctly aligned and those that are incorrectly fitted to cars as conversions kits, but worse still are those that will fit the illegal 110w bulbs. having been an MOT tester its so easy to spot those cars driving around clearly with illegal bulbs and included are motorcycles where some are running around on full beam or badly adjusted

  there also appears to be white smoke coming out the exhaust for a few minutes until the engine has warmed up the it runs and seems fine. Does anyone have any idea of this problem so I have alittle heads up before going into the ford garage Cheers guys :-)

  The brakes have worked perfectly before & after this event. I had them checked at a garage & no fault was found. With the engine running the pedal sinks to the limit & feels like a master cylinder fault but I checked on another c-max with only 20000 on the clock & it felt exactly the same. Can anybody explain this?

  The car starts and runs fine until you get stuck in traffic, the temperate gauge goes up just passed the half way mark and the electric fans cut in ok but, then steam starts coming out of the front of the radiator.     I had a looked when the engine cooled down there was plenty of water in the radiator, but  there is a hose that goes in to the engine block with a radiator cap on it.

  Bought said car 2 months ago and am a first time Audi owner and an experienced home mechanic. Rear wash no longer works although you can hear the elec motor running when the stalk is activated. (Front washers are fine). I have cleared the 2 jets on the rear blade with a pin but this did not solve problem. Cannot see how to access 'plumbing' and no sign of  liquid leaking out anywhere.
