Simmering a turbo "properly"? 21 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I understand the concept of giving the engine (and thus the oil) a few minutes to warm up before caning the car, and I've also read about "simmering" the turbo after a run by leaving the engine running for a moment or two at idle, which gives oil time to pass through the system and cool the turbo a little before switching off. I live on the Isle of Man and my drive to and from work involves a small amount of town driving, a blast over the wonderful mountain road (part of the TT circuit), and then a small amount of town driving. Does that small amount of town driving at the end of the run count as simmering the turbo? -
big, safe cars that go round corners 3 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Right, now that I've sent the S80 back, I want to get another set of wheels. After most of my driving career spent driving very large, big fat engined, floaty cars with pillow soft rides, the few weeks I had with my 160 quid Primera opened my eyes to cars that with good roadholding abilities, and how that can actually be considered a "safety measure"! -

Collective help from forum - Old friend driving dilemma Poor driving, 18 Oct 2017 (Forum)
So off he went, did it and was told that he would be hearing from them. Following week licence turned up, and has now been driving for an extra ten years. However, my personal opinion is that he frightens the daylights out of me when i am with him, and has little spatial awareness nowadays. He has driving glasses as required but does not always wear them. -

Ford Fiesta - Battery draining 24 Jan 2022 (Forum)
Hi everyone. Really need some help with my 18 year old sons car. The battery light keeps coming on while driving, then the ABS light. He pulls over and switches the engine off and then the car will not restart to the point of no hazard lights or anything. As the battery is driving it looks like he is having a disco as the whole dash starts flashing until it is complete dead. -

Any - Let the train take the strain 4 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Was chatting with a colleague the other day about driving long distances Vs taking the train and possibly hiring a car at the other end then we started talking about the Eurotunnel and how it would be good if it could go to other places not just in the UK but all over Europe, you could bord the train in Manchester with your car to London or different locations maybe with a few changes or go to Frankfurt or Milan etc, load the car up drive to the station on to a train then relax and then arrive at your destination without having to drive hundreds of miles. -
