How many miles can you squeeze from 1 tank? 3 Jun 2011 (Forum)
How much is left in the tank at this stage I have no idea. I have to say I am a little dissapointed with this, as my old S-reg 1.8 Mondeo would easily do 550 miles, often with some town driving included, so I always thought I could squeeze 600 out of it, but never quite managed it! How much can you get? -
Ford Everest - Using a Solar Trickle Charger in the OBD Socket 25 May 2011 (Forum)

My questions are: 1) is it a good idea to use a solar trickle charger that plugs into the OBD socket? -
rear end shunt non disclosure of other driver 3 Apr 2011 (Forum)
my car was hit from behind at about 15mph in the ice just before xmas by another car, after accepting liability at the time and offering to pay for the damage without the insurance getting involved, i did not hearing back after 2 weeks from him so i let my insurance deal with it, while waiting for this to be dealt with i found out his insurance is only for a 1.6 and he;s actually got a 1.8 turbo engine fitted. it took 3 months for his insurance company to come and view his car (no mention of wrong engine) and in this time he has repaired his car so his insurance are now refusing to pay out as the damage to my car is not consistant with his!! -
Any - New design of V5 ??? 21 Nov 2010 (Forum)
The bottom half of the front page is PINK. Other than this it is exactly the same as previous V5's over the last few years with all the details of the previous owner & specification of the vehicle. The last V5 I had which was for a BMW K1200R bike I bought in July this year has the top half in blue & bottom half green/blue. -

Drive the deal and dealer finance 1 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Hi, We have pretty much made the decision to by a new S-Max as our old Galaxy has given up the ghost and although I have always been wary of financing cars, I am willing to do it for the peice of mind of a new, warrantied car. After shopping around, it would appear that Drive the deal have the best prices on these and I have done some searching around and understand the principal of how DTD works. -
Car cloning 23 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Any attempt to change such numbers would mean damaging the paint and thus respraying the area(s). Any evidence of a repair in this area would raise alarm bells for a potential buyer. The only problem would be reapplying such numbers after crash damage Just a thought. -
Skoda Octavia - Variable Servicing / Oil change 6 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Trouble is I can't get my head round a two year service interval ( I always did a six month intermediate oil change on my last car) and since we only cover 10K a year, so might be better changing to fixed annual service. Last service was April 09, next one due April 11 - we have a long trip to S of France this August. Q: Would it be wise to do a National Tyres Castrol Edge oil change now (£31.50 and 507.00 spec) or would it void my Approved Used Skoda warranty? Or is it really fine to run two years on the same oil. -
VW Transporter - Buying advice (again) 5 May 2010 (Forum)
Now I must be mad to be considering the private option, but it is the right money and colour, but I beleive there is finance o/s, so how would I go about making sure I do a safe deal and not left hung out to dry so to speak, (apart from buying from the dealer)? -
free virtual beer! A new puzzle ;-) 22 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I thought, let`s try a puzzle for a change - so here goes. A single photograph will identfy the object in question and two of the clues below are in the photo. Most clues - plus identification wins. For decades `they` (in the generic sense) had their own way (and at at one time they had been many) - glorying in their achievements and the world was at their feet. -
Mazda 6 - Mazda 6 TS EGR System 18 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Mazda Customer Service (when they eventually answered the phone) were dismissive and unsympathetic saying the car is outside it;s warranty and so they don't want to know It has always been serviced by Mazda, is a 05 with 70000 on the clock. It has had the cam belt replaced at the last service. Please, please is there anyone out there who has had this problem and overcome it. -
Audi TT Coupe - Crankcase gas recirculation 4 Apr 2010 (Forum)

Tyre sidewall damage - repairable? 16 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Last week during servicing, dealer told me one of my tyres (front n/s) got a nail in tyres sidewall which was unrepairable [and I changed all tyres just 3 months back!] Since I had a full size spare wheel, I asked them to fit that as a replacement. Now my question is, can I repair this tyre? -

What motorway MPG for Transit sized van? 16 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Not flat out, just going with the flow at 70/75MPH. The goods won't be heavy, just bulky. I'm hopeful of 30-35MPG based on the fact my old S-Max would get 45-48MPG at those speeds. Thanks -
The bus as an alternative to the car -- pah! 15 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Not having travelled by bus for several years, I noticed the following points. > The return fare, £ 3-80 each was higher than I though it would be. > The driver(s) seemed to be a surly type, barely a nod as you pay etc. > The bus was very jerky, both stopping & starting, though this could be the driver. > The driver appeared to corner as fast as possible. > Your fellow passengers include drunks, foul - mouthed yoofs & the like. > Your seat is hard & narrow with little legroom. > I was glad to get off, feeling a bit queasy -
FIAT Grande Punto (2006 - 2009) - Recalls and insurance 12 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Does this set a precident and can we assume all cars from all makers subject to recall will not have their cover affected. The subject is being raised as a result of Mrs C`s Grande Punto being one of the 56,000+ subject to a check on the integrity of its steering column....ooohh they kept that quiet didnt they haha?? This issue has just occured to me and I will be speaking to my insurance provider in the morning but in the interim I will be interested in any comments. -
Do we need more 4x4 commercial vehicles? 15 Jan 2010 (Forum)
The same goes for larger goods vehicles - a 4x4 two-axle 18 tonner would be able to keep going where 4x2's are defeated. Again, there's a cost and a weight penalty when it's being used in normal weather, but that could be recouped if it can go out on 2 or 3 days when a normal vehicle can't. -
Giving youngsters a shove... 20 Dec 2009 (Forum)
(I was doddering along holding a newspaper - then asked them if they wanted a shove - to wide open mouths - shocked at the offer) The young woman in the passenger seat had an absolutely incredulous look on her face as I waved them off. That`s what you get I suppose when you are quite old and frail looking, even to yourself, with a long white beard. A nice `comeback` though, from when that young bloke a couple of years ago offered to help me change a wheel.. -
During and after the airbags go bang ? 26 Sep 2009 (Forum)
after having seen the video clip of the old lady giving the mercedes a clip on the nose with umbrella and setting off airbags, what happens to the car in a SLIGHT BUMP with all airbags used ? Having been a fan of bangernomics in the past ( last uk transport 1964 herald and 1980's 205 diesel together made excellent and fun transport) a slight bump and a weekends work good as new. Is the car interior now beyond economic repair with all those panels in pieces, how does it work?
