Picasso Diesel exhaust life 20 Sep 2005 (Forum)
At just under 3 yrs old and 60,000 miles my 2.0 hdi picasso needs a new front pipe and back box at a price coming in around £500. The catalytic converter is integral with the front pipe, thats the big cost. Car is mainly used on long journeys - 2 hrs plus, driven to get there as such. -

What to do? 19 Aug 2005 (Forum)
OK, here's the situation with the car. It's my dad's, and for two weeks at the end of June I was insured to drive it, as my own car was oop north. At the time it was registered to his company, which he owned. Shortly after, he changed it to personal ownership as he wound the company up. -

Handbrake? What handbrake? Ford Focus 25 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Morning all, The car is running fine except for a slight handbrake problem. The handbrake won't hold the car on anything but the gentlest gradient and even then I don't trust it. It's not as bad when parked as I always have and always will leave it in gear but I negotiate a lot of traffic lights on hills and I hate leaving the brakes on. -
ex motability at auction 17 Feb 2005 (Forum)
im thinking of getting one at auction for her as i cant imagine that a a motability picasso will carry the same concerns as an m3 or something, the idea is to buy a 3 year old ex motability one, have it a year sell it privately and go and get another one, thus never loosing my £6000 investment and getting a new car every year id like to know what you think ??? also do the motabililty cars that go to auction have an mot on them i know they have a print out of servicing but no stamps in the warranty but that doesnt bother me, i dont think they are taxed or are they. -
106 buying tips 5 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, Going to look at a 106 tomorrow for my old dear to replace her ailing (and mayo clogged) Fiesta. I'd appreciate any pointers as to what particular faults/quirks I should be looking for (in addition, or to expand on the reports in the car-by-car breakdown). -
Audi 80 headlights 4 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Yes I have checked that both bulbs are working and the lens are clean and I know my eyesight is okay as I don't have the same problem with our other 2 year old car. Is it something to do with the age of the car and that the reflective lens in the headlight are not as effective now (no sign of rust or water penetration). I was considering changing the bulbs to something brighter or different. -
C4 fixed hub steering wheel 2 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Just read an interesting article in Autoexpress about the development of the C4 fixed hub steering wheel in which they mentioned that Citroen first used it on a C4 of 1928 (took a long time to get the C4 on the market!!) but it brought to mind the steering wheels of vintage cars with various controls such as advance and retard etc and I can't picture them rotating either. First car I owned was a Sunbeam Alpine (1949 model, 20 yrs old when I bought it!) and it had two small chromed levers coming from the steering wheel boss - one for indicators (semaphore) and one for dip/main beam. -
Omega 2.2 Diesel Misfire 4 Mar 2004 (Forum)
This is the first diesel I've owned so is this perhaps just normal ?(I've been used to a very smooth Alfa twin-spark for the last 7 years). When I first got the car the misfire was quite violent and the whole car shook when it happened, although it's settled since being serviced. Any thoughts ? -
New Vectra - Sensor Failures & Trim ratt 26 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Meanwhile the dashboard has taken to internal ressonating / rattling and the dealers attempts to localise this have resulted in the car smelling like its developed an electrical fault .... obviously I\'m not happy .... has anyone else had similar experience ... ironically the car is great to drive! -
ATF Leaks - Ford Sierra Auto. 4 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Hi All I have an \'89 Ford Sierra 2000E with automatic transmission - until recently super reliable but now have problem with automatic transmission fluid leaking. When the car is fully warmed up the ATF leaks at an alarming rate out of a small opening on the underside of the starter motor. As long as I keep topping up the ATF the car runs fine but obviously this is only a very short term solution. -
Damaged paintwork due to railway 13 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I've already invested in a car cover. I have looked at the house's windowsills (which were white) and they are deep brown on the horizontal surfaces thanks to this stuff. I'm concerned my white Citroen ZX will resemble an old British Leyland colour before too long. -
High Mileage 28 Mar 2003 (Forum)
... £7k for a 2 year old Mondeo LX with 128k?! or £5k for a 99V Focus estate with 115k? Some of the prices aren\'t nearly as silly but still... how much do you reckon they paid at auction for them? It\'s an interesting concept though, being so upfront about the high miles - I guess they must be going for people who know how to look for a good car, rather than those who simply want one in a pretty colour. -
Grinding Brakes on Golf 17 Mar 2003 (Forum)
The rear brake discs on my 7 month old Golf have recently started to grind when applied. The car is going in to VW on Wednesday to be inspected. The grinding has got steadily worse over the last few weeks, which makes me think there is a fault rather than a stuck piece of grit or something. -
Focus Vibrations 24 Sep 2002 (Forum)
A passenger in my Focus (2yrs old, 2.0L, average millage) recently pointed out a problem that had been at the back of mind and slowly getting worse. My car has a vibration at speed. This feeling of vibratiuon has developed into steering wheel twitching at certain speeds which if you release the wheel is clearly visable. -
Honda Civic or similar 7 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I've been brought into the task of helping my 21 year old son buy a car. Having been a company car driver for years, I'm out of practice. Son has a budget of £5000 max and is interested in a Mazda 323, Civic or Corolla. Having toured some dealers today, the best bet so far seems to be a 97R Civic (1.5 L VTEC engine) at our local Honda dealer. -
Air conditioning 28 Jul 2001 (Forum)
If it is the former, I would obviously need to recharge the unit, but would it be knackered (7 yrs old)? I just thought I would ask, as we are expecting a two week heatwave, and the car gets bloody hot. Thanks Jonathan -

OK, my partner's offer for the Rover 220 TDi was withdrawn the minute she discovered that it appears to have been clocked, from a report of 104k in October...
