  • Renault 5 GT Turbo wont start 5 Apr 2005 (Forum)
On examination we found there were no sparks at plugs and no power to the petrol pump. Have tried pump across battery and it is fine. Have checked that power is getting thro' the ignition switch in ignition position, OK. Have tried 3 seperate electronic ignition units still no sparks. Have replaced all the relays beside and behind the fuse box, one at a time also another relay tucked up behind the dash and the ignition relay beside the ignition unit all to no avail.
  • Citroen C3 mud flaps 3 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Apparently Citroen UK are working on delivering a software fix through the National Grid via a standard mains battery charger to all those C3 owners whose mud flap drain holes aren't big enough. Until the fix is on general release, we'll just have to clean them manually;-) Hawkeye ----------------------------- Stranger in a strange land
  • Citroen C5 verses Passat 5 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Hi I'am new to this but wanting to share my car experiance's 30years of driving Ford's Vauxhall's Citreon's Passat .The last car The Passat I have at present 1.9 diesel TDI best 40 mpg is this the cost of a Turbo (speeding ticket machine) take it off and give my the confort and economy of the C5 made by Volks Wagen after 2 1/2years and 60,000 miles with a C5 HDI 50mpg driven head with smooth ride the only reason for not returning to Citreon (100% useful electronics at launch they said)was the self leveling suspension making the car comfortable when locked and the battery running down as a result of this. If the C5 had been of the same build quality as the Xantia it whould not have had any competitors .I guess the same air polution that helped the Magane come to market most have had a connection with Citreon and put a spanner in the works .When's Jerry going to ask high mileage drivers to test new cars and take speed out of the judgement .
  • 205 starter motor 26 Feb 2004 (Forum)
, but anyway) then on the third try the starter worked absolutely normally - not slow cranking - normal speed. The car started this morning and then again this evening totally normally. I checked the battery leads were tight - about all I could do due to the arctic weather and not having a garage. If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful.
  • Peugeot 406 DT strange prob 9 Nov 2003 (Forum)
He said there wasn't much he could do, knocked the labour charge of the bill and that was the last we saw of him. One week later my dad tried to start the car but it wouldn't turn over. He thought the battery was flat so I lent him a charger. After a day on charge the engine still wouldn't turn over so I went round to give a jump start. Still the engine would not turn, the starter clicked and the engine seemed to turn a fraction.
  • Pug 106 cutting out 31 Oct 2003 (Forum)
After 5 or 6 attempts, it caught and started, but only a few yards down the road it started 'chugging' and then cut-out, unable to restart at the time due to being late for work and so therefore used a different car. I could give a few suggestions as to the initial starting problem, spark plugs old, battery knackered etc, but i wouldn't have thought either of these would cause it to cut-out again after a successful start? I wasn't there myself so im only going on his description of the problem. Any ideas?
  • Engine Management Light on Corsa \'99 25 Sep 2003 (Forum)

I\'ve been checking oil constantly, etc. Engine Management Light still on intermittently but battery light flickers on occasionally (not oil light). Electrical fault?? I\'m trying to get it back into the garage but have been told cant get appointment for another week. Can anyone help??
  • Q . Vauxhall trailer electrics 15 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I have just purchased a Vauxhall/Opel Zafira add-on trailer wiring loom that connects to the rear light cluster looms, battery, and 12N socket. As part of the install there is a \'Flashguard\' relay that plugs into trailer loom at the rear of the car . When testing the indicators, with the trailer plugged in, everything seems OK but I expected to hear a buzzer but there is no audio warning .
  • Right Car, Wrong Car 10 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Am I alone in thinking she was nuts to go for the Insight? Very clever, but I it must wind up with eye watering servicing bills and the batteries will fail, bringing a whole new set of headaches into long term car ownership. I'm beginning to warm to the little fellow who threw up on the Motorshow programme, he's quite a cheeky chappie...
  • Mondeo Diesel Cold Start 30 Oct 2002 (Forum)
(After a bit of fiddlng with various things by the garage, the car did start, but nothing was done to fix the problem) c) Warm starts - no problem. The battery is new and ok. Factory fitted alarm / immobiliser is working normally. There are no warning indicators on the dashboard. Plug heater light works normally ie switches off after a few seconds - double heating causes the light to switch off noticeably quicker on the second iteration.
  • Do we really need or want this level of complicati 6 Dec 2001 (Forum)
At the core is an ECU from Motorola?s PowerPC family. Each transmission produced at Saarbrucken goes through a battery of tests to establish its unique characteristics, which are then programmed into the chip, *creating a bespoke ECU for that specific transmission* . ?It?s the brain of the system? says Manfred Bek, senior manager control systems for ZF Getreibe car transmission division.?
  • Things you notice 1 Dec 2001 (Forum)
If there is front end damage the bill would be expensive, GM have tucked in the fan and the turbo intercooler right behind the bumper member and the compartment must be expected to run hot since there is a neat insulating jacket over the battery. The "deluxe" front seats have a strange panel at the front which is free to slide forward about several inches, it looks like it's meant to support your leg further towards your knee but it seems more comfortable if left alone.
  • Car and bicycle tyre pumps / inflators and gauges 2 Jul 2024 (Forum)
As I live in a flat, I cannot use a direct plug-in type 'inflator', but could use (if they are made) a solely battery-powered one if a high quality 'manual' foot pump isn't available.  Given my car's predilection for going through car batteries, I'd rather not rely on one that you have to plug in to the car for power.

http://nema.club/2014wsm/workshop%20manual/n6w08/html/id0802b2823100.html B1193 - Crash event storage - Full andd loaded(body control module) V30003 - Battery voltage circuit voltage below threshold. So I got a new battery installed as the meter gave a bad reading, the mechanic said it's probably not causing the problem, and I managed to nurse it home with it only happening again once in my home town.
  • Audi A4 - Purchased car and broke down day after 30 Sep 2015 (Forum)
The vehicle was described as in excellent condition.Visually it is immaculate.  The day after I bought it, it did not start. Called AA next morning and diagnosed battery issue and also emission of white smoke.  Went back to the garage and they installed new battery and dismissed white smoke.  Less than a week later, coolant light on dashboard appears and checked coolant container which was below minimum.
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1999 1.8 Courier van instrument/electrical problem 7 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I went to start the van and it wouldn't start. The starter motor never turned over but the lights were bright and the battery seemed good. I tried several times then called the breakdown people. Anyway, whilst waiting for them to arrive I decided to try again and after 15 minutes the van started as normal. This has happened twice after switching off the ignition.
  • Renault Clio 1 Petrol (1991 - 1998) - 1997 1.2 high idle and rough 31 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I took it to Renault to get a diagnostic check - no faults on the ECU but cos it was idleing high they disconnected the battery to reset it and that fixed it. Of course by the time I got home it was idleing too high again! Sorry for such a long description of the problem but hopefully somebody can spot the problem in there!
  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 2002 1.6 Full Beam issue, now disabled on car 10 Dec 2008 (Forum)
So starting at the top, the best thing I could do is remove the 5&10amp fuses one by one in a trial and error experiment to stop the battery going flat on me. Found one that disabled one, however the right hand side, remained on, I had to (again foolishly, but I was desperate) pop the bonnet and physically disconnect the wiring to the bulb) to stop flattening the battery.
  • Please Help - Audi Coolant Pressure 8 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Please can someone shed some light where the mechanics cant seem to: The car has always been reliable until recently the water thermostat clip disappeared, the t-stat fell out allowing the water to drain out instantly the warning light came on and I managed to pull over before the car got to the red line, probably got to about 120c. When trying to start the car again the engine barely made any attempt and the battery sounded dead, I assume this means the engine partially seized due to the heat? Black smoke and a burning stench came out of the engine. Car was taken to a garage and they replaced the t-stat and all the coolant, replaced the battery and it all started fine, they ran it for about 40 minutes checked pressure and all looked good.
  • Used model Y good deal or not? 4 Aug 2025 (Forum)
Performance is incredible, obviously it's an acquired taste and it is not for me but here's the thing: it's a long range and he was expecting maybe naively high 200s range. He's lucky to get 200 so far. By my reckoning, it will have lost about 10 % battery through degradation, giving about 68 kWh useable (down from 75) internet says average consumption about 3.3 miles per kWh, giving him about 220 miles. He's a fast motorway man, so I'm guessing his range is about right.
