buying a used car 22 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I have up to £3000 to spend and don't know whether to go for a petrol or diesel car, I do about 18000 miles a year and need decent enough room for one car seat and a buggy. I have thought about a 2002 Renault Clio/ Ford Fiesta/Peugeot 106/Peugeot 206, I would like a smaller car that is cheap to tax( £35 for 12 mths if possible) and run. Could anybody tell me about common faults of the above cars or which of the above cars they would reccommend and roughly the mpg for that car I have read the 106 has a high 7 out of 9 death rate in accidents? -

Peugeot 308 - Wide range of rear tyre pressures 15 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I asked the Goodyear helpline (the original equipment tyres are Goodyear EfficientGrip) but they had no advice, referring me to the car manufacturer. Peugeot in turn do not answer technical queries on their helpline, referring me to the dealer... All the dealer has to offer is the published information. Since one is often alone in the car, but rarely fully laden, and frequently with apart load that can be anywahere between these two extremes - does anyone have a practical solution to cover most normal use without endlessly changing tyre pressures? -
peugeot 307 1.6hdi 90bhp - a.b.s.,airbag & anti-pollution warning lights 5 Sep 2012 (Forum)
UO121-car communication. No communication with the esp ecu.PI351-preheating relay circuit stuck in open position.PO483-cooling intergrated into ecu open circuit or temp too high. Then took it to another garage, again no faults had been recorded, rec I take it to peugeot which I did only to be told it needed a new a.b.s. ecu which I obviously didn't believe as the faults were still there soon after a new ecu had been fitted.Started asking around and I seem to be getting the message that it is a faulty wheel sensor or a fault in one of these circuits.Any pointers woul be greatly appreciated and suggestions on how to check wheel sensors and circuits.I do know it has something to do with checking the resistance but exactly how I am not sure.Got the tackle to do it but need the knowledge. -

Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 98 1.9 aux belt tensioner cambelt killer 25 Jan 2010 (Forum)
My friend brought me his 406 98 1.9td on the back of an rac truck, the rac bloke was confident it had a broken cambelt, i looked under the bonnet and only 3 out of the 6 strands of aux belt was still intact, i removed what was left of the belt, i then removed the cambelt cover and although there was alot of aux belt in there the cambelt was still intact, i checked the timing using the proper kit and the diesel pump had jumped a few teeth (very lucky if you ask me) i re-timed everything and it started like a dream, i then checked why the aux belt had come off, one of the tensioner pullys is out of alignment, not a million miles but enough to cause a problem i belive. its the top tensioner the one that has a 3/8th size hole to adjust and a large spring behind alternator, (not the excentric cam tensioner under it) my question to all you experts is how can i replace this item, it looks like its part of the pas alternator and possibly ac bracket. i have spotted this on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-406-V-BELT-TENSIONER-PULLEY-XUDTE-95-00-CHEAP_W0QQitemZ220532846705QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3358c83071 but would this only be fitted if the bearing was had it, or do you think it will fix my alignment problem as well. secondly will i have to remove ac, alt, and pas pump to get to it and if so would it be easier to just get the whole bracket including this bit already in it from a breaker, once again many thanks Andy (a qualified but very fresh ford tech) -
Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 03 2.0 engine anti pollution system faulty ??? 7 Dec 2009 (Forum)
hi guys, please please can anyone help,, i have a peugeot 307 sw se 2.0 hdi.. some weeks back a engine warning light came on. its glows orange, and on the display screen it reads " engine anti pollution system faulty". plus on top of this, the fuel cunsumption has dropped drastically i mean on a full tank of diesel i am getting about 130 miles and then i am bone dry, time to refill. on inquiring at the main peugoet dealership they said that they needed the car to a full diagnostics and go from there, thus they did, they came back with. the serine fluid tank was empty, apperently this fluid is a additive, which is injected, into the tank every time you release the fuel filler cap,,, i had to go with what they said, they said apart from re-filling the serine fluid tank, it would also need what is called re-force generation, they said they have to do this to reset the allowance of fluid injected into the tank, all this work was done on friday 4th decembar 2009, and i am 200 quid ligther in my wallet. -

1999 Peugeot 306 1.9 TDi Meridian 10 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hello All! I was wondering if anyone could help me. My S-reg peugeot 306 has recently developed a bit of a problem. For the last year or so it has needed oil top-ups in between services. Just before christmas I was driving along and the car seemed to accelerate of it's own volition - only slightly but enough to make me use the brakes to bring it back under control.
