  Retro Classics 2017: Stuttgart show to honour racer Roland Asch 23 Jan 2017 (News)
  Now Retro Classics Stuttgart will honour the 66-year-old racer with a special display of his cars at the show, which runs from 2-5 March. Asch, a trained mechanic, began his career in slalom races and hill climbs during the mid-1970s. His first race in the German Touring Car Championship was at Hockenheim in 1984.

  BEN is the charity that exists to help former employees of the motor trade and industry who have fallen on hard times either through injury, illness or old age. British Car Actions and Car Dealer Magazine are combining to offer a special entry of 31 cars that recently competed in the annual Bangers4BEN fundraising event. The challenge was to complete a sponsored run to the FIAT factory in Turin and back in a car costing no more than £750, with all proceeds going to BEN – the Motor Industry’s Benevolent Fund.

  Younger drivers, aged between 18 and 34, are happier with the idea of using a driverless car or a car fitted with safety equipment than those over 55 years old. That, coupled with the fact that the technology is far from ready for production cars - means by the time it hits showrooms it might be more well received.  Peter Fouquet, president of Bosch UK said: “Our research clearly shows consumers have confidence in driver assistance technologies such as Driver Drowsiness Detection.  With each innovation, we move a step closer to the goal of accident-free and fully automated driving.”

  Customers will receive four Nectar points for every £1 they spend on servicing, MOTs and non-warranty repairs, and if their car is up to nine years old and has fewer than 100,000 miles on the clock then they also qualify for up to 12 months free roadside assistance in the UK and Europe. Ford first had a double points month in February, which saw 42 million points issued to customers, which is enough for 5,000 family tickets to various tourist attractions.
