Preview: Artcurial classic car auction, Paris, 20 October 27 Sep 2013 (News)
The 1990 Lamborghini LM002 (€80,000–120,000) is an amazing car - built to cross deserts, and yet powered by a Countach engine, it's one of the wildest off-roaders ever made. With just 301 examples built, it is now highly sought after - although not recommended for short journeys or city-bound owners. -

Five Grand Friday: Skoda Octavia vRS 7 Aug 2015 (News)
The TFSI engine isn't terribly thirsty - it will return 37.7mpg according to the official figures at least. With this kind of car you'll want to run it on a premium fuel like Shell V-Power Nitro+ which should help retain the vRS performance and aid fuel economy too. We think this generation Octavia still looks good, especially the more angular pre-facelift version that this is. -
Classic cars over 40 to be exempt from MoT testing 14 Sep 2017 (News)
The government decided to press ahead with the exemption despite more respondents to the consultation opposing rather than supporting the move (1130 v 899). According to government figures, the move means that around 293,000 more vehicles (1% of the total UK car parc) will qualify for exempt status, on top of the 197,000 pre-1960 cars that are already MoT exempt. -
A Grand Monday: Saab 900i 11 Apr 2016 (News)
Timing chains last about 150k – so you’ll need to find out if the one on this car has been replaced. Aside from that, it’s the usual stuff for cars from this era: power steering fluid leaks, worn c/v joints, knocking ball joints, cracked shocks and springs, and any electrical issues. Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 27-6-2015 27 Jun 2015 (News)
Refusing your request is a criminal offence. All torque I am looking for a powerful petrol car. Probably in the Golf/Focus size range, but without the usual big wheels, lowered suspension, GT badges, etc. that go with a larger engine. I will be using the extra engine power for easy, comfortable, relatively low speed driving in hill country, rather than winning the traffic lights grand prix. -
Toyota Claims Lowest Whole Life Costs For Prius Plug-in 24 Jul 2012 (News)
Toyota states there is no other car on the UK market that exactly matches the benefits offered by its Prius Plug-in Hybrid Synergy Drive full hybrid powertrain: it offers the near-silent, zero emissions performance of an electric vehicle, being able to run on its lithium-ion battery for around 15.5 miles (v/s 30 miles for the Ampera) and at speeds up to 51mph. When battery charge runs low, the car’s full hybrid system – which includes a highly efficient 1.8-litre petrol engine – takes over, so the driver doesn’t have to worry about whether the car has enough power to reach its destination. -
