• Change 1 Shock Absorber or 2? 19 May 2005 (Forum)
  2 Months ago I had my nsf shock absorber changed at service by renault. It was not right from the moment they changed it. Ended up getting a 4 wheel alignment done as they recommended, which was all done at my expense. Car now drives as you would expect on decent flat roads, but on rough ground or over man hole covers you feel the car twitch.

  Having been told that my new job will require a company car, I now have to choose from Renault Laguna, Vauxhall Vectra or Nissan Primera. I'll be doing 30-35k miles a year on mostly motorway or fast rural roads. Without having any particularly good reason, I think I prefer the Primera to the other two.

  Here is the problem. New Renault Scenic arrives today, to replace my nearly 10 year old BMW 318. My wife has her own car,and we swap between them. I thought I might hang on to the BMW, for sentimental reasons, and as an emergency spare car, as it is in good order mechanically.

  My 2000 W reg Renault Scenic 1.6 Petrol Alize is running on 3 cylinders, which surprises me. Car only done 40k, recently serviced. Went to the dealer this morning, says it'll probably be the coil pack, whatever that is!

  Hi, I'm looking for a little bit of advice for my dad. He is looking to change his car some time in the next few months. He currently has a 1.4 Renault Megane (V reg) and is considering a Toyota Corrolla of no more than 3 years old. He wants a diesel this time around. He does around 10,000 miles a year (I think thats what he said anyway). He uses the car mainly for going to work and doing all the running around locally but it will be used for longer runs aswell, on motorways and country roads.

  As mentioned before, I purchased a pre reg Scenic from Renault dealer. Car was registered on 29 June and I purchased it on 3 July with something like 6 miles on clock. I have not received the log book in from DVLA yet. When I questioned this with the dealer yesterday, he advised me that as it was a pre reg, there would be a 3 month delay.
• Scenic sun roofs & air con 4 Jun 2004 (Forum)
  I am considering buying a Y-reg 2001 Renault Scenic Dynamique+. It has 2 sun-roofs, both electrically operated. It appears that these are "tilt" only, and don't slide back - is this normal? Also, when pressing the buttons on the dash to direct the airflow into the car (foot area, to the face etc), there is a noticeable creaking or groaning from behind the fascia, which I imagine may be some flaps are moving to direct the airflow.

  This follow up to my previous gearbox woes Last year garage say my gearbox has a fault - bring it in next year, no time left this year ... 'sir' This year, garage can't find any fault ... 'sir' Complain to Renault UK - garage has final say ... 'sir' ... you can take it to another garage for a second opinion! Need to go back to the garage for rattles to be fixed ... 'sir' Renualt UK have discovered some Lagunas have a gearbox problem, can you bring yours in and we'll see if is one of them It is!

  Thought that a P reg Alfa GTV in black, for £4650 looked good (if you're not of nervous disposition) to £15 for a renault 15 with MOT till Nov 04. As always, small cars were strong. Up to 3 grand for S and T reg 3dr Clios. Considering I paid £3200 for a 2000 Wreg 5dr a year ago at the same auction, I reckon I could get that money back.

  Hello all I need to transport my Renault Megane to from Surrey to whence it came in Bonny Edinburgh. If its up to it I`m going to get a relative to drive it, but I`m not sure that it will make it (its not been well recently) With this in mind I would like it to go on the back of .....something.

  Hi My 1992 Renault Clio 16v 'finally' needs two new rear tyres. Kwik-Fit has quoted £300 to fit two Michelin 188/55 V 15 SXV1. Admittedly, this includes £50 for tracking, which they say may not be required. This still seems very expensive to me.
• Espace 1998 anti-freeze type 29 Sep 2003 (Forum)
  Just changes the radiator in my 1998 2.2 TD Renault Espace and the coolant that came out was the red colour one (plus some brown silt). I have flushed the rest of the system as much as possible and the question is whether the red anti-freeze is the one to stick to.

  Renualt espace diesels get a v bad press - engines fall to bits - see HJ in DT today, plus HJ car by car breakdown etc etc etc Has anyone any exp of the renault 3.0 petrol as in the Espace? I do less than 8,000 miles pa, so fuel consumption not a big prob, plus a always worry about diesel pumps and turbos on out of warnantee 3 yo diesels. Or should I go for a Galaxy/Sharon 2.8 V6 petrol ?

  Hi, Quick question. My diesel Renault Trafic camper van has attained a clunk noise when I switch on/off the engine ignition. It happens more when the engine is switch off, as if 'something' is taking a second longer to stop - it also makes the engine judder slightly.

  seen youre talking about buying cars and that the subject i need help on. ive got my eye on a renault clio 1.4rt as my first car, its advertised on the net and the guy who owns it lives near me. Im 19 and a student at uni with little cash but enough to wanna have a car. The owner has put alloys on it and coded bumpers and wants £1,395. questions, is that a bad price, whats the lowest i can negotiate with him and is this a fairly decent/reliable car as i need to go backwards and forwards from hertfordshire to bournemouth occassionally?
• Unleaded or Super Unleaded Petrol? 18 Jan 2003 (Forum)
  Can anybody tell me if using Super Unleaded petrol in my 1998 Renault Clio 1.6 RXE will have any noticeable difference? The reason that I ask is because with the price of petrol having risen over the past few weeks it works out almost as expencive to fill up with Super Unleaded Petrol and maybe gain extra performance/ mile per gallon; or am I better off filling up with Standard Unleaded Petrol and saving the few extra pennies for the next fill?

  I have an 'R' Plate 1998 Renault Laguna 1.8 (8 Valve) RT Sport. It is suffering from very noisy tappets. After taking it to various garages and even having the problem diagnosed as the cam lifters (which these were replaced), the problem still persists.
• Blatant advertising 14 Jan 2002 (Forum)
  Set in France, it was basically just a series of good car chases, however I noticed that just about every make of French and German car appeared at some point, Citroen XM, ZX, Xantia, Peugeot 205, 306, 405, 605, Renault Clio, Laguna along with BMW's, Audi's and VW, all vehicles getting close up shots of their noses and grills complete with manufacturers badges. I wonder how much the makers of the film were paid off the car companies for this advertising.
