please choose me a bike carrying vehicle 9 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Any ideas for the following requirements: Used for Citroen small vans) seem to offer the same kind of perfrormance I saw an ex-aussie Ford Falcon v8 2wd pickup on auto trader, but it was LPG only and I get the feeling that fuel prices won't be in its favour much longer.... -
How much is it worth? 5 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I reckon that if I'm going to spending nearly 2500 pounds a year it's easier to hire a car as and when I need it and use a removals company to get my stuff to and from uni. So, I'm going to stick it in Autotrader. It's a Citroen Xsara 1.9TD "West Coast" coupe, 90k, vomit yellow aka Gold, immaculate condition, full service history etc. I can't even find it listed in Glass's so any suggestions as to how much I should put it in for would be appreciated. -
Rear brake caliper problem - Mazda 323 4 Apr 2006 (Forum)
It does seem that handbrakes and rear discs don't really mix - the only car I've had so far with rear discs that have behaved was a Citroen GS, whose handbrake operated on the front (inboard) discs, and had a separate mechanism and pads for the handbrake. If I do have to get another caliper, can anyone suggest a good source? My local Mazda dealer wants £300... -
Micro Vans 30 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I know very little about the Daihatsu so anything on them would be good I've tried to get him to look at Citroen C15 as these seem cheap but he has a width restriction by the side of his garage. This being the reason behind a Micro van Vansboy where are you? -
Speed Limiter 28 Dec 2005 (Forum)
OK.....so I have had my Citroen C4 for over a week. The speed limiter, what a great piece of kit! I use it quite often and I can tell you that I have never felt so relaxed about driving! I can use my accelerator pedal as a foot rest almost. -
have I damaged my fuel pump? 23 Dec 2005 (Forum)
The car in question is a '95 diesel fiesta and does'nt have a fuel priming bulb like my previous peugeot and citroen diesels. I know that a diesel pump is lubricated by the diesel inside and should'nt be run dry, but could I have done any damage? -
Reliable Diesel with excellent ride 1 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Also I have thought of a Fabia vRS 130 or a Corolla 1.4D. Air-con is a must for summer holidays in Europe. I have discounted the Citroen C5 on the grounds of poor reliability but is this fair? Come on you owners of these cars and give me your opinions. -
Auctions buyers beware - My 406 Estate 15 Mar 2005 (Forum)
The car is fitted with 2.0 HPI (Petrol) engine, which was a low emmissions experiment by Peugeot/Citroen. They dropped it after a year or so. Mine hasn't worked properly (hesitation/stuttering/flat performance) for 18 mths and has spent many wks in the dealers. The emissions warning light has been on for most of that time and I don't see how the car could pass a (legitimate) MOT. -
People's car 27 Jan 2005 (Forum)
There have been lots of "People's cars" over the years: The Ford Model T; Volkswagen Beetle; Tatra T12; Citroen 2CV; Fiat 500 etc. All these cars had the same idea of bringing motoring to the masses. They all survived incredibly long production runs, been evolved gradually and even now have legions of fans (and detractors) I'm not sure there's a true people's car in production today, so what should it do, what spec should it have, how should it look and what else would you do if you were planning to design a car like this? -
Best used diesel under £3k? 15 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I would like to get something about the same size or a bit bigger, preferably a turbo diesel or HDI. I've considered another 306, Citroen Xsara, VW Golf sofar but am open to suggestions. I would love something more reliable like a Japanese, but don't know of any good diesels by these manufacturers. Any ideas on what would offer a reliable car with space and power for this price? -
Am I that out of date ? 19 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Of course I know it isn't but it was not very impressive at all. Is this what you get for serious money these days ? Why oh why did Citroen not follow up the Xantia with a carefully aimed er---follow up. Like Xantia 2 and not that gallumphing C5. -
Oil filter spark plug cross reference 1 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I have a Citroen AX Class 4 Grasstrack car, which I've just bought. It's fitted,as far as I know, with a 1.1 Saxo engine, which I believe is not too dissimilar to the original 1.1 AX engine. I intend to renew the plugs and filter. However,I can't get into the plugs at the moment to see what they are,but thats not the problem. But whatever is in there, will be getting binned in favour of NGK plugs.Listed below is the spec of the car.If someone can point me in the right direction as to what I will need, insofar as part numbers are concerned, then I will be grateful. -
cheapest motoring I ever heard of. 7 Apr 2004 (Forum)
It's great to see folks after a bargain but I reckon my old pal had us all beat. All his adult life he ran Citroen 2CVs (he is in his 60's now) He rarely paid more than £100 for one and got them two at a time. He then cannibalised the cars and got one decent one fron the two! He reckoned the engines were about unbreakable and any bodywork welding was done with baked bean tin metal, apparently this was the right gauge. -
'00 Xsara lost power after hose replaced 17 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Hi A friend of mine has just had a split hose replaced on his 1.4L petrol Citroen Xsara. I forget what hose it was, either MAP sensor or Lambda sensor. Anyway, it was causing the car to run rich and the oil to smell of petrol, even after a 15 mile journey! He thinks the lack of power is due to the car needing a tune-up, he's going to get it "Krypton tuned", or whatever it's called, soon. -

2.0HDi Starting Problem 24 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I have owned a Citroen Xzara 2.0HDi for over 4 years. The car has always started without problem, usually at the first attempt. However 2 days ago, after leaving the car for approx. 20 minutes (shopping) the car refused to start. -
Switching from diesel to petrol 30 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Hi there, I currently drive a 94 Citroen Xantia 1.9TD. I'm looking to buy a 98 Mondeo 2.0 Ghia X as my next car. I'm just wondering how 'different' the 2.0 will be compared to my 1.9TD. I've checked the figures etc, which state the 2.0 is faster 30-70 than my Xantia, it's considerably faster 0-60 etc, but I'm just wondering about real-world conditions. -
AX head gasket tips 18 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hi everyone I'm in the middle of changing the head gasket on a Citroen AX10 (alloy block, wet liners). The old gasket failed due to a crack in the gasket across the oil feed to the head - oil everywhere, but no overheating problems. Before I put it all back together, does anyone have any useful tips for this engine, things I should look out for on reassembly? -
A real specialist ! 1 Jun 2003 (Forum)
The garage concerned has an advert in our local rag boldy boasting: "Ultimate Sales & Service" Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, Peugeot, Renault, Rover, MG, Vauxhall, VW, Fiat, Alfa Romeo Citroen & Volvo... SPECIALISTS. It's nice to know her car's being dealt with by people who specialise in so few marques and hence really know the vehicles inside out. I'd hate to think how she'd have fared if she had taken the car to a mere 'generalist'! -
Brand Loyalty 5 Dec 2002 (Forum)
The actual score of the 25 cars we have owned is: Mini 2 Triumph 1 Fiat 4 Vauxhall 8 Audi 2 BMW 1 Subaru 1 Citroen 1 Volvo 2 Renault 2 Peugeot 1 So all you profilers out there, what does that say about me?
