HGV / Lorry blind spot and higher risk to Cross Overs/MPV/4x4? - 30 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Having read the article below; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3513632/Dashcam-captures-terrifying-moment-lorry-drives-BMW-sending-spinning-M25-path-van.html I googled 'blind spot' and was shocked how common this actually is, the point I make for further discussion on (and many will not approve) is; are MPV's/Crossovers etc with a HigherCentre of Gravity at a greater risk? -
Lancia set to die - sadly pretty well gone 8 May 2014 (Forum)
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/fiat-chiefs-confirm-lancia-only-sell-cars-italy Always thought a Rover, Lancia, Saab merger would have made sense. All fwd in the segment below Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar etc but above the French, Ford, most Japanese and Vauxhall. They made some of most interesting cars. TG voted Lancia top brand ever. Some superb cars before FIAT took over. Even one or two after FIAT eg Delta Integrale -

Doing smallish annual mileage..time for a rethink? 16 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Many motorists who do high mileages have to opt for economic fuel consumption but people who do low annual miles may be better with a much larger car. The bigger engined machines tend to last longer and there are some real bargains about....BMWS, Mercs, Volvos etc. On 5k a year thats a hundred gallons @ 50mpg and 200 @ 25mpg, say £600. An older larger car can be a bargain and last you years with tlc. I'm on my 4th year with a3.2 petrol and it cost very little to buy. -

Best way to drive a car with a failing thermostat 14 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Hi this is going to sound like a weird question but my bmw 330cd should run at 90 degs but the temp is only getting up to 65. I share a lift with 3 people 70 miles and sods law it's my turn to drive this week. so I can't do it untill the weekend. the question is if I drive in 5th it will go up to 70 degs. but if i put it into 6th it will go down to 60ish.but obvouisly the revs drop in 6th gear. -
Cameron's Fast Buck lanes - 23 Nov 2011 (Forum)
In reality it'll be take a lane away from us peasants and charge extra for exactly the same as we have now. It's his 'M4 Bus Lane' idea but this time for rich sales reps in BMW, Merc and Audi's ...you know ...utter dicks. -

Automotive lemons A-Z 9 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Almost every car manufacturer has produced a lemon at some stage, with the possible exception of BMW and Porsche. Here's my A-Z AMC Pacer & Gremlin Austin Allegro especially with the idiotic quartic steering wheel Cadillac Seville Diesel, Cimmaron Chrysler/Talbot Horizon, Solara Dacia Denem Ford Edsel, Pinto, Taunus FSO Polonez Pontiac Aztec Rolls Royce Camargue (even Pininfarina can have an off day) Volkswagen K70 I'm sure there are many more I can think of, but my post would probably time out -
What really happens to soft top values in winter? 21 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Hi all, Just a quick semi-hypothetical question, but what sort of knock would you say that a convertible really takes in the winter, for example, a BMW 320Cd Convertible that sells for £12K or £13K now in July would sell for roughly how much in December a week away from xmas? It's the one thing that I never came across during my time in the trade and I am sort of curious as the more I look at the E46 convertible the more I start to covet one. :-) -

Warranty invalidated by National? 4 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Just had the strangest conversation with National Tyre Service while trying to book my 325D for an oil change. In the end they told me I would be ?better off? taking it to BMW because their work would invalidate the warranty through the use of non standard parts. It was not what I expected to hear. My lay understanding of the legal position is that the warranty is not invalidated providing that parts meeting the manufacturer? -
Jaguar / Land Rover and the Government 15 Jan 2009 (Forum)
As they have not introduced models that meet the Governments stated policies why should they expect any help. BMW did it so why haven't they. This will probably find its way into the downturn thread. -
Used diesel exec saloon - 6K budget 29 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Hi Guys, Looking for a new diesel exec saloon on a 6k budget. We already own a 1998 GS300 and 1999 328i between us and I am looking at changing my BMW for a car which provides better economy for the 20k a year that I do. I have so far looked at a high mileage 1.9tid saab 9-3 and x type 2.0d, and actually really liked the saab, but could anyone suggest any other equivalents or share any good bad experiences with these sort of cars. -
Audi A4 B6 (2001 - 2005) - 2.5TDI 155bhp - feedback - 1.9tdi vs 2.5tdi 28 May 2008 (Forum)
I know this engine is used across the range, and how people find this engine compared to the 1.9tdi, and how would they compare it. Or is it better to save a bit more and go 4 the BMW 330D Many thanks BBQ -
Fuel and fuel consumption 24 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I recently used Shell V-Power in my 2005 MINI Cooper S and 2007 BMW 320d to see if it gave better fuel consumption over 'cooking' petrol/diesel. Total mileage of test approx 3,000. Result: no meaninful - if any - improvement. Conclusion (for me and my cars): premium fuel = waste of money.
