The suggestion is to have toll lanes that you pay to enter. Then you can go faster and this is his big idea to reduce congestion. I think it's daft. We've paid many times over for the existing roads and shouldn't be fleeced again. In an ideal world it would be charging for additional capacity. In reality it'll be take a lane away from us peasants and charge extra for exactly the same as we have now. It's his 'M4 Bus Lane' idea but this time for rich sales reps in BMW, Merc and Audi's ...you know ...utter dicks.

Its only a middle rate pretty boy politician talking cobblers.

The country is on the verge of bankruptcy and still printing, many of the brainwashed are finally waking up to the fact we haven't lived in a democracy for some time, we follow puppy like the Americans as they violently re-align Middle East oil producing countries in the name of democracy (sic), we submit ever further to the unelected EUSSR.

He's just waffling to keep people from seeing through the fog, where Blair bribed the electorate with their own borrowed money to keep them in benefits, further education with no proper jobs at the end, and electronic toys, Cameron doesn't have that option as the money is gone so he waffles.

He's taking inspiration from the Dartford Toll, M6 Toll, M4 Bus Lane, Congestion Charge, Bus Lanes in general because you know...they all worked brilliantly.

Oh no wait, they dont.

If theres severe congestion when everybody is free to use all of the lanes then how will pricing people out of one of the three lanes do anything other than add to congestion? It'll be just like it is now, flying Audi in the outside lane doing 147 on his phone while us normal folk stay on the left - not in the middle. Unless of course every motorist paid it, then you still end up with exactly what we have now just made a bit more expensive which is really their plan. Motorists forced to pay for the UK roads for about the 850th time over. Remember we were told the Dartford Crossing Toll would be scrapped when it had paid for the crossing? Its been paid for about 7 times now. Remember how the M6 Toll was meant to reduce congestion on the A5? It doesnt, because people dont use it, millions of pounds spent to get some more congestion on the A5.

Its nothing to do with congestion its 'how can we get the UK motorist to pay for the road once again' as the layers of Fuel Duty TAX, Vehicle Excise Duty TAX, Insurance Premium TAX, Value Added TAX, Value Added TAX on the Fuel Duty TAX , Company Car TAX, Value Added TAX on the car in the first place obviously arent enough. Add all of that to the motorists who pay £8 a day TAX to drive into London, the whatever-it-costs TAX to use the M6. Not forgetting the £60 TAX for doing 34 in a 30 with nothing for miles and now they want to impose an additional motorway TAX to be allowed to use all of the road we've already paid plenty of TAX for.

Hopefully this will be just another brainless scheme quickly discarded such as Huhne's proposal that only electric cars should be allowed to do 80mph.

We're Governed by apes.

M6 Toll Road is great... Saves time and hassle..

M6 Toll Road is great... Saves time and hassle..

It only saves time because the A5 is so congested due to the M6 Toll. Remove the Toll and traffic will be spread more evenly between the roads. The A5 would probably then become empty and you could use that for free.

I disagree. Some ape's have been found to have a fair amount of intelligence.........

Ape's have no hidden agenda and want only enough to survive. We should be so lucky!

Apes also have the comfort of not having to worry about apostrophes.

Nor about pedants :-)

Won't need booths for collecting the road tolls. Seen it in Austria and I guess they aren't the only ones who give you some sort electric device that roadside sensors read and then you are sent as bill. ''Thats 50 miles at 20p a mile and of course vat on that sir, don't forget the handling charge for your cedit card and your new sensor is on its way at....................etc etc.'' trains are overpriced and overcrowded, buses can be the same.

Road pricing by the back door, there's little as cunning devious and untrustworthy as a politician.

Accept this and only the tip of the iceberg shows.

One would imagine that whilst these "improvements" are made to the road system we will have to endure months of purgatory driving through the roadworks, current cases in point are the M62 past Leeds and the A1 North from Dishforth to Scots Corner.

Be interesting to see if the time wasted in the roadworks is ever regained by faster journey times when the works are completed.

Seeing as the workmen arrive at 11am, have a cup of tea until 1pm, do some work until 1.30pm, have lunch until 3pm then go home at 4pm i dont see why the temp speed limits cant be on computerised signs and just turn them off when they go home.
