  My part and i both have diesel cars. h'es got a Mercedes E220 2 litre automatioc; and I've got a renault kangoo van 1700 cc Having seen seen a program recently on tv we could both be saving a fortune using biodiesel and the program DID say that we wouldn't need any conversion kits. My concern is how do we know if our vehicles are compatible for biodiesel and is there any need for different fuel filters.

  Afternoon all. I am considering changing my car from a small renault Clio Diesel to an Audi A4 Avant. No I have not got Kids yet but just need a bigger car. I am looking for the new style but want to know forum members views on semi high mileage diesels, either the 1.9 or 2.5.

  I have a renault scenic 1.9 dynamique which has nearly 20k miles on the clock. All four tyres are now needing replacement. To replace the existing Dunlops is going to cost me £301. Michelin are £391. Is it worth paying the premium for the better brand?

  Ever since I signed up here, I've read bad reports from people in the know on automatic gearboxes fitted to Fords and Renaults. Are these the exceptions or are there many more? Lets say I wanted to buy a big engined car with automatic transmission (I don't), based solely on how good the box is, what should I be looking at?

  I am planning a trip back to France since my Renault will soon need its 18K service so I thought I would combine it with a holiday and see family etc. Now that P&O have pulled out of Portsmouth to Le Havre, I was wondering what the ldlines operator were like with their one service a day.

  Am very tempted by the Smart Fortwo, but don't know whether it would be much fun on the motorway ????. Also like the Renault Clio dci, but realise I maybe missing some other good alternatives Cheers for any advice

  Dashboard display says "Automatic headlights faulty" (they've never worked automatically). Wipers completely dead (only front ones). Some electrical circuitry issue. Renault Assist (aka the AA) no clue. Assume covered by warranty. Off to dealer who says "never heard that one". Third time its happened in 9 months. Had same issue with previous model Espace (01) so it surely not uncommon.

  We have a couple of intermittent problems with a Renault Megane (1996) 1.9 RXE,Turbo diesel. Starting can sometimes (not always) be associated with a feeling of "choking" followed by a large volume of exhaust smoke (whitish/blue). Also when sitting idling the engine appears to struggle followed by an increase in speed (w/o touching the accelerator).

  But I would like to be able to switch it back for the future when I sell the car. I wouldn't have thought Renault would fit a different computer for the UK market, I am certain it must be possible by a few strokes of a laptop.

  Heard over the weekend that as a run-out for the current style Mini, BMW are going to produce either a 270 BHP front engined car or a mid-engined version Renault Clio V6 style. The front engined car is up and running and being tested but as I was getting a bit Brahms, I cannot remember whether a prototype has been produced for a mid-engined car....annoyingly as I would love to know there was!

  I don't know if anyone agrees with me but, when first seeing a "gold" coloured Renault Megane Coupe Cabrio (as advertised on the right of the page) about three months ago, it struck me as a particularly stylish bit of kit. I see the same car fairly regularly and am still very taken with its very elegant bodywork - certainly its rear view is considerably more handsome than the hatchback...:-) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What\'s for you won\'t pass you by

  Basically - did a long run this weekend, when arrived at destination - the battery was dead. I did have the heater, lights, wipers etc on and the vehicle in question is a Renault Trafic Van. Cheers

  Hi I bought the above model with 90k on the clock on Friday. 1st & 2nd gears pull fine all the way through the rev range, but 3rd-5th pull fine & then start dropping back/start losing power. I had a Renault 5 turbo years ago which did the same thing & that was the head gasket. Does anyone know if there is a sure way of telling if it is the head gasket (compression test or something). Thanks Lee

  Suppose Alfa 147 GTAs might eventually drop even further in price, but then purchase price is not the real cost(!) Anyone considering a punt on the ample-reared Renault? Mattster Boycott shoddy build and reliability.

  could any nice person please give me some advice. I've recently purchased a renault megane coupe 1.6L, and i have a small prob with the gearbox. when i'm changing from 2nd gear to 3rd, it wont go into gear. i have to put the stick to neutral, then back into 3rd to get it in. If im changing from 4th to 3rd, it goes in no problem. could anybody tell me what the prob is and how much it will cost to fix. cheers

  I'm looking for a small automatic to replace my J reg Clio which I bought in June and drove for a whole 5 months before the autobox failed. I learn from this website that Renault autos are not reliable, and I know old Fiesta autos are not worth looking at - any other tips as to what to avoid? At the moment I'm looking at a 1999 Polo - do VW autoboxes compare with the rest of VW's longlasting build?

  Both use fuel from the same pump at the same garage. Why do the exhaust gases smell different? The Renault's has a particularly distinctive whiff (and has done since new) which doesn't actually seem to change if a different brand of fuel is used, whereas I cannot really smell anything from the Gal, again irrespective of what brand of fuel I use.

  I run two Renaults which both suffer from excessive scatter and glare from the front foglamps, particularly at night. I read that the so called "all weather bulbs" sold by several manufacturers emit a pale yellow light which is claimed to give less glare.
