Would ye stop doin' that, would ye? 11 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Here are a few of my passenger pet hates... 1. Talking - too loud and at the wrong moment, e.g. at life-threatening junctions 2. Changing the radio station, CD track etc. without asking the driver 3. Adjusting heating, fan, etc., ... in fact touching any of the controls, darnit. 4. Opening the glovebox and snooping inside 5. Screwing up a piece of miscellaneous litter or even chewing gum and ramming it into the ashtray or door pocket 6. -

Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - Battery light comes on despite three alternators. 1 Oct 2007 (Forum)
About 5 weeks ago i started the car & the battery light stayed on. The light got brighter & i lost my headlights, radio, indicators, speedometer, petrol gauge, all the dashboard lights came (Air bag etc) & then the card just died & wouldn't start again. We changed the Alternator with one from a scrap yard & seemed to work fine. -
Peugeot 306 - dead and now keys faulty 27 May 2007 (Forum)
We've been and bought a new battery and tried again and this happens: Turn engine on, dash lights come on, immobiliser activates and radio comes on. I enter my security pin into immobiliser and it accepts it and the light goes green. I then turn the key to turn the engine over and the car immediately dies. The car engine doesn't even attempt to turn over. -

Zafira DTI,Electrical problem 25 Oct 2006 (Forum)
No problems for about three months then, the fault happend again, in the morning, attempted to bump start the car down a hill, no good, called out a breakdown firm, who jump started the car battery, pulled up at my house switched off and started no problems So, I replaced the car battery with a new Varta one, high crank output, last night, drove to work for a good hour travelling time and noticed the dash lights started to dim and the radio, switched itself on/off/on/off etc, so in the stupidity of me, I pulled over in the middle of nowhere and turned the engine off and stereo to recetify/reset the problem, turned key to start, battery flat, dash instruments filkering and alarm sounding. -
Do diesel cars cause cancer? 23 Sep 2006 (Forum)
This has been on my mind since hearing a comment mayor Ken made on the radio. It was part of a conversation with a black cab driver and Ken mentioned something along the lines (this quote may not be accurate) "diesel particulates that cause cancer". I remember reading an article a few years back about the PM10 particles and a link to cancer. -

Almera V Corolla 5 Feb 2006 (Forum)
The things that would attract me to the Corolla are that it is roomier inside (particularly in the back seats), and also rather quieter (which is nice), plus that it has buttons for its heater/radio controls rather than the Nissan's overly complex screen-driven system ... but the Corolla doesn't sound as reliable as the Almera, though still better than average. So I'm wondering if it's really worth spending an extra thousand on a car with more miles on the clock? -
VX Vectra Rev counter input? 30 Jan 2006 (Forum)
The fault codes stored in the ECU as far as I can tell relate to an issue I had about 3 years ago, if I can find the Radio code I will clear the ECU to make sure. Any help appreciated. -
Peugeot 307 "Comm 2000" aka indicator 22 Jan 2006 (Forum)
s late but did everyone have a good Christmas, I have a Peugeot 307, I am sure many of you will say bad choice, and I am beginning to agree yet I like the car very much, the car is now 5 years old and getting to the point of things going wrong, The main and most annoying is the indicator switch has flopped, it needs replacing as clicker has gone, I spoke to Peugeot they said I have to buy this whole unit called a comm. 2000, which is both stalks and radio arm, seems like a silly gimmick to me, I spoke to a breakers they quoted £90 which sounds like a big saving and I?m going for that one, but they biggest worry and question is will it need programming to the car, Peugeot say yes, and it will cost £96, I said that? -
Battery problem - 1999 Astra 14 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Each time I've started it it's taken a while to get started, a couple of times the alarm has gone off in the process, and each time the radio has displayed 'safe' and refused to go on (after RTFM I've entered the code and got it to work, but have to do this each time I start the engine). The information display also tells me it's 00.00 on 01.01.1997! -
Possible starter motor problem:Volvo S40 28 Aug 2005 (Forum)
iv got a volvo S40 year 1996 1.8l (manual) and had a little bit of a problem recently. i switched my car on and drove it to the local petrol pump, car turned on first time with no problems, once at the pertol pump, i turned my car off but the radio was playing for around 5 minutes. went to switch my car on once filling up 'air in my tyres and the car wasnt starting. all of the lights in the the dashboard were lighting up as usual and when turning the ignition, there was a ticking sound but no effort of the enging rolling over. -
Laminated glass - safety v. security 28 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Just been listening to a piece on the radio about car crime (which has apparently fallen by 30%) in the last 10 years IIRC. Anyway one of the experts was claiming that laminated glass is a highly effective (if more expensive by about 4 times) security measure which could/should be adopted more widely. -
Citreon AX 1.4 diesel - won't start 15 Oct 2004 (Forum)
The problem I'm having is that you switch the ignition on and all the lights come on but when the yellow light goes out and you turn the key again to start the car its dead, the engine doesn't even turn over there's just a click. the radio, lights etc still work and the battery isn't flat. Sometimes after several attempts it will start, other times it needs to be kick started and sometimes it will start after 30 minutes to an hour (admittedly sometimes its been days later). -
Mercedes 230E steering lock/leads 29 Jan 2004 (Forum)
In previous cars I have used a very good red flashing dummy 'car alarm light' that works by using a positive power source from the radio supply, and connecting to one of the leads going into the back of the steering wheel lock. When the car is running, this is energized ie. positive, and with the other positive lead gives 2 positives so the light will not work. -
Corsa Electrical Problem? 9 Nov 2003 (Forum)
When I got back I filled the radiator up with water & tried to start the car. I turned the key and got absolutely no response - didn't even try to fire up. The radio wouldn't work & when I tried the central locking it only lifted the drivers side catch. Left it a couple more days & my husband tried to jump start it. Agian we got in to the car by manually opening the drivers side. -
Vauhall CDR 500 Mobile Phone Wiring 29 Aug 2003 (Forum)
The cradle in question is only a cheapo £6 thing, the sort that plugs into the lighter socket - however, it's been lobotomised and bolted to the edge of part of the trim and now looks as professionally installed as I can get it - it will save me £250 if I can get it to work, and Vauhall dealers don't want to know unless I pay them to install one of their own cradles....pffft!! Apparently the CDR 500 needs a switched 12v supply to swap between radio/cd and the phone, and the cheapo cradle also conveniently comes with a switch...does anybody have the pin connections/diagram for the switched supply and audio in connections to this stereo so that it'll save me a fortune ??? -
Cheap E-Sure 14 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Hence how can Michael Winner claim to be insured by them when they esplicitly exclude people in that line of employment? Try answering YES to the clause regarding "performer or presenter in films, TV, radio, music or other performing arts" and a quote is declined. -
Peugeot spare key 25 Jun 2003 (Forum)
2)It came with only one key, which operates the locks, alarm and immobilizer remotely from the key fob. I have not been given any codes for the key, radio etc. How do I get these codes because I assume that if I have to disconnect the battery for any reason I will need the codes. 3)Because I only have one key I need to get a second one but I am concerned that there is still a key out there that will access the car.
