  • peugeot 306 turbodiesel 12 Nov 2004 (Forum)
I recently got a 306 turbodiesel that needed an engine, (the previous owner blew it up and it threw a rod through the engine), and I have since changed the engine, but now it wont start. It sat for about 5 months and flattened the battery. It has a plip type key. Does this mean it has an immobiliser fitted, and if so, how do i reset the thing. It seems to be getting fuel up to the pump but no further, and is turning over on the key.
  • Toyota Prius II 6 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Would a used Prius be a good long term car (10 years+) or would you end up scrapping it when some of the technology fails? How expensive are the batteries when they fail and how long do they last?

  • Diesel Dashboard Warning Light ? 13 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Sat in one today, key in ignition and turned to put the electrics on (so I could check the lights n stuff) but didn't start the car. On the dashboard.. along with the usual red battery lamp that stays on if you don't start the car.. a yellow engine icon with a fan in the middle also was on & didn't go out. Like I said.. complete Diesel newbie What does that mean? Should it have been on?

If there are any clues out there, I'd appreciate them before 8th April. (Recently had to replace the battery - any connection to electrics i.e. suspension control?) Keith

  • Volvo V70 Fan Problems. 15 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Yesterday the cooling fan would not stop running even when the ignition off, and it eventually drained the battery. The only way to stop it is to pull the plug apart. Does anybody know how to fix it without taking it to a expensive garage? Thanks. Post amended. Posting entirely in CAPS is thought to be bad manners (it\'s a way of expressing bad temper because it looks as if you\'re shouting).

I have 1990 205 XE It is not starting the engine is not turning over and its not the battery because its new. • Laguna (1995) Alarm problem 21 Feb 2003 (Forum)
A problem has developed with the remote alarm keyfobs and now they won't de activate the immobiliser or operate the central locking. I have changed batteries in both, but still no joy. To make things worse, I can enter a 4 digit code to override this, but the switch on the wiper stalk doesn't work. The voice computer system is driving me mad... Anyone have any suggestions to keep me sane?
  • Why keep the engine running? 13 Nov 2002 (Forum)
He left the engine running on his Transit all the time. Apart from having the radio on (loud of course), there was nothing else to drain the battery. Chris M
  • Alarm on Xantia 19 Aug 2001 (Forum)
I put my Xantia TDI in the garage and went away for two weeks. On my return the 12 month old battery was flat.On charging it the front lights came on and flashed. My friendly Citroen specialist explained that the alarm must have been triggered(there was no noise jut flashing headlamps) and he explained how to reset it.
  • Rover 820 question 26 Jul 2001 (Forum)
I own a 1988 Rover 820 SE Automatic. I know that the engine needs resetting after the battery is taken off or loses its charge- I just can't remember exactly how to do this. I know it involves starting the enginne and waiting for the fan to come on- then performing some sort of operation with the gas pedal.
  • Mondoe Starter 15 May 2001 (Forum)
This fault will sometimes occur a few times in a week and then disappear for months, and then reappear. The battery is ok as it starts fine in cold weather. Is this likely to be the solenoid and can this be replaced separately to the starter. Is this a common problem with Mondeos?
  • Vauxhall Zafira A - How long can an average petrol car run for? 24 Oct 2018 (Forum)
It's not really a big problem - someone told me that as it's electric power steering it's possibly the battery, but we've had the battery checked so many times and each time it comes back fine, the battery is still the original battery though, but it does also have a green light on the battery that also shows up fine too.
  • 2010 Toyata Yaris 5 door - 2010 Toyata Yaris double locking system 17 Aug 2024 (Forum)
Im fairly certain I have double locking on the above. How can I over ride it if my keyfob is damaged or the battery is dying in the keyfob?  Can I just check what the giveaway signs are that Ive definitely got double locking in terms of the labels that Toyota refer to as being on the front side windows. Many thanks for any help or advice given.
  • Renault Clio - Droning and rattling noise 12 Feb 2024 (Forum)
Not at lower speed though so can’t be pedestrian warning of hybrids. 2. Some rattling noise from rear left hand from where the traction battery is placed in the trunk. I have checked it’s not the seat belt buckles rubbing on plastic or any item stored in the trunk. More pronounced on cold morning.
  • Nissan Qashqai (10 reg) - Radio code 9 Feb 2024 (Forum)
The car has just had a new clutch fitted and the garage disconnected the battery. Now I cannot access the radio. I looked on YouTube and found an override method but that has stopped working now.  To fix this properly, I seem to need a 4 digit code which may or may not be on the back of the radio but that is built in to the dashboard and would be very expensive to take all that out.
  • Any - EV’s and vegetable oil. 2 Jul 2023 (Forum)
But instead of potentially waiting months for a suitable electrical feed to the site, drivers will charge from second life EV batteries that are, in turn, charged by generators running on vegetable oil. The generation process is 90% lower carbon emitting than diesel and the requisite number of trees will be planted to hit net zero.
