Nissan Qashqai (10 reg) - Radio code - toff

The car has just had a new clutch fitted and the garage disconnected the battery. Now I cannot access the radio. I looked on YouTube and found an override method but that has stopped working now. To fix this properly, I seem to need a 4 digit code which may or may not be on the back of the radio but that is built in to the dashboard and would be very expensive to take all that out. Can anyone please advise me how I can find the code?

If it doesn’t display the serial number on the screen, then the radio will need to be removed from the dash to access this number. Once you have this , then there are plenty of sites on E bay that can provide a code . Around £6 .

The radio is built in to the dash so, as I said before, it's a major job. It seems ridiculous to have to go through all that just to get a code, especially if it is likely that a battery is disconnected from time to time over a car's life. I've sent my details and Vin no to Nissan but have yet to hear back from them.

It’s not built into the dash , and it’s not a major job to remove it . It’ll need some trim centre console parts removed. Probably about 10 mins work .

Ok, thank you but it sounds like a specialist job all the same. I will take it to a Nissan specialist. I guess you doubt that Nissan UK will supply the code.

It’s unlikely that Nissan will hold the code for a car that old . Any radio specialist could deal with this. Don’t have to be a Nissan expert.
