  • 'Elvis Car' Ford Model A Hot Rod Comes Up For Auction 1 Aug 2019 (News)
.  Athan continued driving his hot rod until 1978 after which it was stored in a barn for 20 years. Then, in 1996, another friend, Tom Leonardo, persuaded him to unearth the car and restore it to the look it had as The Elvis Car, complete with Kelsy Hayes wire wheels and whitewall tyres.
  • Hidden Heroes: Fiat Bravo HGT 10 May 2019 (News)
The extra 10 horses, along with some Abarth body styling features, made it even more interesting to drive.  It handled tidily, too. It wasn’t as grippy as the 306 GTi, nor as pin-sharp as the Civic VTi, but it felt assured and rewarding when barrelling down a twisty road, with only a typically Fiat notchy gear change letting it down.
  • Hidden Heroes: SEAT Toledo V5 5 Apr 2019 (News)
First, it’s an oddball, and we like cars that don’t conform. Second, it’s a cracking car to drive, and those high running costs, coupled to the fact that not many people know what it is, mean that used prices are devilishly cheap.  Scouring the small ads, the cheapest example we found was just £295, with four months’ MoT, while if you’ve got £1000 to spend then apart from the examples already cherished by enthusiasts, you can pretty much take your pick.  If you do, then what you’ll end up with is a real Q-car.

  • Future Classic Friday: Alfa Romeo 156 10 Mar 2017 (News)
But then, the earliest surviving examples are nearly 20 years old, by which point most Alfas of yore would have long since turned to dust. The 156, then, was a landmark car for the Italian marque. Terrific to drive, great to look at and one that challenged perceptions while remaining true to its pedigree. As ingredients for a future classic, they're hard to argue against. Buy one now while they're still available for three figures...

  • Fans flock to Sunderland for Bluebird birthday 27 Jul 2016 (News)
I’ve been around many factory tours, but Nissan was a special one, as I got to come here in a car that I love, a car that’s so over-engineered that even after 28 years of being on the road, it’s still as exciting to drive as it was when it was new.' Ian Marshall, who travelled from Cardiff in his 1989 Bluebird 2.0 Executive, added, 'I've owned 11 Nissans over the last 13 years, six of which were Bluebirds. • Five Grand Friday: Skoda Octavia vRS 7 Aug 2015 (News)
Well aside from not having to worry about problems with the DPF, the petrol TFSI is the same engine that was used in the Golf GTI. Producing 200PS it has a wonderfully smooth nature and is a delight to drive. Plus it's no slouch with a 0-62mph time of 7.3 seconds. The TFSI engine isn't terribly thirsty - it will return 37.7mpg according to the official figures at least. With this kind of car you'll want to run it on a premium fuel like Shell V-Power Nitro+ which should help retain the vRS performance and aid fuel economy too.

Great fun and offered at no reserve.
  • Millionth Morris Minor to Feature in London Classic Car Show 6 Jan 2015 (News)
Having left the clutches of the Nuffield Group publicity department, the Minor was passed to the National Union of Journalists in April 1961 for a national fund-raising campaign, and was finally raffled live on television, with proceeds going to the British Red Cross.  The raffle winner from Wales was too young to drive and the car was passed on to the local postman. It subsequently endured accident damage before being acquired by the present vendor as a restoration project in 1971. Some twenty years passed before he funded a professional restoration costing some £15,000 and a return to its original glory.
