  • Classic motorsport event returns to Chateau Impney 2 Jun 2015 (News)
The annual meet not only attracted some of the most sought-after cars and hill climb drivers of the era – including Tony Marsh, Phil Scragg and David Good – but also thousands of spectators, who would line the Chateau’s drive to catch a glimpse of the action on the original, twisting 550-yard course. ‘We are thrilled to be able to bring motorsport back to Chateau Impney,’ said Rod Spollon, chairman of the Chateau Impney Hill Climb Club. ‘In its heyday, the Chateau Impney sprint was one of the most anticipated on the calendar and a favourite with spectators and competitors, but until recently it seems it was destined to become the Midlands’ forgotten motorsport event.
  • Was 1959 the greatest British motor show? 10 Nov 2014 (News)

This was a show burgeoning with optimism, showcasing cars that would come to define the mythology of ‘The 1960s’ - be it in the form of Jaguar’s updated compact saloons in Mk2 form or the 6/99 on the Wolseley stand, future star of countless black and white B-features.

  • EX-FLEET VEHICLES CLOGGING UP AUCTION MARKET 16 May 2007 (News)
However there is some reluctance from vendors to accept a vehicles true value, adjusted for condition and specification, as this will need to be significantly less than the guide price. This in turn drives good buyers away from this product and therefore unnecessarily it remains unsold. It will eventually sell some weeks later following a book drop at below the original asking price. Specification has a far greater impact on vehicle values than either guide book represents thus adding to a vendor’s dilemma.

  • Something For Everyone at Auction Today 12 Feb 2003 (News)
Entries include what appears to be a fabulous 1959 Mercedes 300SL with excellent history and four wheel disc brake conversion estimated at a conservative £100,000 - £120,000. I’d have thought more than that for a really good one, as these still provide a great drive: better than any standard E-Type Jaguar including the SIII. Other entries include a historic racing 1955 Peugeot 203, a 1934 MG NA Magnette single seater, an ex Gerry Marshall 1965 TVR Griffith V8 coupe, the 1956 EJS Climax Sports Special and plenty more both ancient and modern: a 1949 Land Rover, a 1930 Humber 16/50 DHC, a 1952 Healey Tickford 2.4, a 1935 Graham Paige, a 1963 Lagonda Rapide, a 1992 Jag XJ220 and even a 1956 Paramount.
  • Day of Contrast at Auction 7 Oct 2002 (News)
The 102,493 mile 1966D MGB in the photo had been in the same owner’s hands for 30 years. Sadly, he had become too old to drive, or even to look after the car, so it had to go. Bidding started at £500 and, despite the surface rust and crumbly rear wheel arches, shot up to the estimated £2,000 in no time. But it didn’t stop there.
