Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 - 2005) - 01 2.0dti Loss of power and EML on 1 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Hi everyone. I'm looking for a bit of help please. My wife drives a zafira and recently it started to loss power and EML comes on after 3 or 4 miles driving. The crank shaft sensor has been replaced and it drives a bit better but when idling the engine seriously hunts causing lots of vibration. -
Mazda 2 / Ford Fiesta Titanium The Same???? 27 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi All, I have a late 2010 Mazda 2, 1.6 diesel sport. After 8 months I've decided I realy don't like the way this car feels or drives. I've been making enquiries at various garages about a Ford Fiesta,Ttitanium. I took one out for a test drive and loved how it felt and handled. One garage I called today laughed at me about changing to a Fiesta and said it's exactly the same as my Mazda. -
3 Simple Driving Safety Tips 18 Aug 2011 (Forum)
It is human nature to believe that they know what they are doing, particularly when they are drinking. 3. A simple rule to keep in mind for driving safely is common civility. If one allows others to go ahead, one can save various probable troubles on the road from happening. -
Mercedes Benz C320CDi - Mis-behaving 7 speed auto gearbox 7 Jul 2011 (Forum)
My Nov 2006 (56) W203 C320CDi estate is just lovely to drive but has recently started to occasionally refused to accelerate or change down when asked (even past kick-down point). Driving in 'sport' mode (holds gears longer) seemed a bit better but still occasional hesitation or refusal with gearchange needing to be forced manually. -
Renault grand scenic AUTO - Need to find someone who has a demonstrator 1 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I'm looking at replacements now, but the Renault dealer has told me he has NO chance of getting hold of an automatic for a test drive. I only have an auto licence, and as I'm short & disabled, I really need to test drive a vehicle, to make sure I can reach/see everything comfortably before I commit to a 3 yr lease I'm interested in the 1.5 dci auto, but any auto will do, as driving position/internal layout are more important than engine to me at this point. -
Test driving cars with no MOT 17 Dec 2010 (Forum)
MOT ran out whilst sitting on the forecourt in October. We are really interested in the vehicle and after a successful test drive there's a 95% chance we'd buy but as I understand it without an MOT this isn't legal. Is this correct? If he were to say that it is ok and we get pulled over would he be liable or us (As the driver)? -
E46 BMW 320d touring - Series 3 BMW winter tyres 8 Dec 2010 (Forum)
The tyres are unbelivable, this last week we have had, snow, packed down snow, slush, and ice but the tyres just grip in all these conditions. We have to drive up a North facing steep side road that is never treated, normally the rear wheel driven BMW cannot get up the slope, now it just drives up without any difficulty. The tyres have managed all the local snow covered hills with ease they seem as good as any 4 wheel drive. -
Ford Focus - Ford Focus '99 1.6 zetec fan & temp reading prob. 21 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Hi everyone, i have a problem with my Ford Focus, after about 10-15mins of "normal" driving the cooling fan will come on even though the temperature gauge is halfway and reading normal. The fan will go off after about 30 seconds but will come on every so often. Also when i'm driving at speed uphill the temperature needle will suddenly jump up to over 3/4 up the gauge, when driving conditions return to normal the gauge will go back to halfway, i'm also assuming the fan is coming on. -
Two speeding tickets in two days 17 Apr 2010 (Forum)
The camera is not a normal Gatso - was fixed but doesn't flash apparently. My wife and i are both retired and drive the same car and we're up and down there all day as our daughter has a new baby. Not sure who was driving but they want to know. Neither of us has any points and we've had driving licenses for nearly forty years. any advice on how we deal with these? -
mondeo 03 reg - brake prob? 27 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I have now noticed what I can only described as a grating sound? This is present on braking but also intermittently when driving along, as though the brakes are binding somehow (and this may sound stupid but is when driving is is more pronounced when the car is driving left round a bend!) I want to take the car back to the same garage but don't know wnough about cars and want to know if this is the front brakes, and if so why is this problem occuring when the discs and pads have been replaced and if it is something else why was it not picked up as an advisory in the mot? -

Driving home for Christmas 2009 20 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I started a similar thread last year which produced some interesting replies, so let's hear what your are up to for Christmas, 2009. I'll be finishing work around normal time on Christmas Eve and driving the 40-odd miles down the A1(M) to my caravan in leafy North Yorkshire. Christmas Day it's across to Southport - about 100 miles from the 'van - to meet family in a hotel for an evening meal. Looks like my Christmas lunch will be a cheese sandwich and a bag of crisps in a layby somewhere on the way. -
Skoda - My Car Is Too Dangerous To Drive! 9 Dec 2009 (Forum)
An old & respected friend sat in my new Octavia after I'd sat in his new BMW. He said that he would not be able to drive my car safely , as he could not reach the brake pedal without lifting his foot off the floor. The brake pedal is indeed a couple of inches above the accelerator even at rest. In the BMW you just slide across to the brake pedal , keeping your heel on the carpet. -

Volvo S80 (2006 - ) - honest john have you test driven a ! 22 Jul 2009 (Forum)
this is for honest john or anyone who has test drove the new volvo s80 (my10) today i have driven the new s80 2.0d se lux (my10) but when i was driving it a found a major problem ( i think its major) it felt like i was driving it with 4 flat tyres the handling was very bad. i pulled out to over take a car and it was all over the place. mainly over 60mph the slightest jolt on the streering wheel and it felt like i was snaking and lots of body roll. when i asked if it should drive like that i was told its the new supension set up. well all i can say is that if that is the case then i can see lots of buyers taking them back..... -
Rover 45 (1999 - 2005) - 00 1.8 Never starts first time/stalls on Drive 29 Apr 2009 (Forum)
s suffered from the same fault since I bought it: it rarely starts first time, needing between 2 and 10 attempts to turn the engine over before it will start. Then, once the engine is running, it stalls as soon as I put the car into Drive. Once I?ve been through that whole routine at the start of the day, it?s fine. I took it back to the garage a few times after buying it, but they always claimed it started for them, so they couldn? -
Polite Sign in rear window 27 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Was driving home on Monday afternoon and was behind a W reg Ford Fiesta, it had a fairly large poster in it's back window that read: (or pretty much read) I have recently been 'done' for speeding for the 1st time 34MPH in a 30MPH zone, it's cost me points and a fine I'm driving slowly because of this... -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 05 1.8 Has the Auxiliary drive belt tensioner seiz 22 Dec 2008 (Forum)
MK 1 Petrol version (old shape) 65k miles Evening BRs Hope you can offer some advice. Drive belt which runs the power steering/aircon/alternator has worn out. It slips worst first thing in the morning. Bought a new belt and went to slacken the tensioner as per the Haynes manual by turning the bolt in the middle. -
Lexus IS250/220D (2005 - ) - 07 2.5 New Clutch after 3,500 miles ???? 8 Oct 2008 (Forum)
He has often thought that the clutch has a high biting point but this week his missus has taken it for it's first service. The dealers have said it needs a NEW CLUTCH through bad driving and want a grand for a new clutch. They are adamant that they will not contribute putting it down to wear and tear and simply said it's bad driving. I am a trained police driver and have seen him drive quite often and would never say he is a bad driver. -
Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - 94 2.0 Mk 3 DOHC Ecotec Petrol - Clutch Change 7 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I tried to change the clutch with the gearbox insitu, following the Haynes Manual. After removing the end cover I was unable to withdraw the drive shaft as there was no thread in the shaft to attach the slide hammer. There is no end cover bolt on the drive shaft. I have done this before on an Mk 2 I used to own. The local Vauxhall dealer was helpful and showed me detailed diagrams, none of which matched the car.
