Serene

Just completed my first 600 miles in March and with an average ambient air temp. of 4c have averaged 66 m.p.g. by rarely exceeding the speed limit. In summer I expect that figure to rise above 70. That's been my experience with the Auris hybrids, the system is very temperature sensitive.
Overall this is an excellent car for those who like quiet tranquillity when driving, definitely not for petrol heads. The 15" wheels means that it can cope with rough potholed roads with aplomb, unlike the SUVs of today.
The downsides are few. I agree with others that the bits of white goods that are in the cabin look awful and should be abandoned forth with. The biggest drawback for me is the positioning of the rear window wiper which sweeps clear less than half of the window. It needs to be hinged in the centre not to one side. The view out of the back is tiny enough as it is.
