My book says for a PETROL Golf 11, 020 gearbox 4R, 4 speed, 1.5 litres.

020 gearbox 4T or 9A, 5 speed, 2 litres. I used Mobil 75/90 gearbox oil with no ill effects over 150,000 miles. NB. for cars before October 1987 the book says on 5 speed 020 gearbox to fill to plug level and refit plug, then add an extra 0.5 litre through the speedometer driveshalf hole. Later gearboxes had the oil level plug hole relocated 7mm higher than the earlier models.

For PETROL Golf 11 auto box TKA, from dry 6 litres, service drain and refill 3 litres, final drive 0.75 litres.

For Diesel Golf 111 auto box 096, from dry 5.6 litres, fluid change 3 litres.

Yeah, the oil fills to about 1.5lt before overflowing, wasn't sure if I then had to top up to 1.9 or 2lt.....car is 89' model so shouldn't have to.....but I just have the feeling I should!

Thanks
