Note 1.6 Acenta Auto 2008 - Nissan - Dashboard Lights & Keys - Kirsty - Nissan Owner

Hi,

My Nissan Note 1.6 Acenta Auto 2008 just had its annual service at the local Nissan garage, but two options they have provided are very expensive, so I want to see if there are any alternatives before having to agree to them.

The first problem is that the lights in my dashboard have gone, behind the rev counter and speedo, which means I can't see how fast I am going if it is dark. Nissan have said that they can't replace the bulbs, but need to get a new dash cluster sent over from Japan, at a cost of £579.

The second problem is that the remote key locking makes a screeching sound when it locks, also it sometimes won't let me out of the driver's door. Nissan's answer is to put in a new door lock system at a cost of £258.

Are there any other options?

The Nissan Note (Owners) Forum might be helpful here. Regarding the locking issue, I guess that some lubrication inside the door(s) where the locks operate, is required. You might even be able to sufficiently lubricate the locking system from where the lock is exposed as the door opens.

There are companies that repair faulty speedo modules - google and you will get somebody but then see if they have a good reputation!

The faulty remote locking could be simply the mechanism needs a squirt of "sewing machine oil" - you might be lucky and be able to squirt some in - it might need to be door cards coming off.

The locking problem is a faulty latch/actuator in the drivers door.Common problem on these ,and part costs around £120.If the bulbs in the dash are standard illumination bulbs, then I can't see why it is not possible to replace them. They could be leds, which would mean a more specialist repair. Are you sure the dash dimmer is not turned down,if there is one fitted?
