Hi
My clutch pedal started being springy about 2cm from the bottom of it's travel, I managed to video through the release arm hole and could see at the bottom of the travel the release bearing stops moving but the release arm is flexing slightly causing the springy feeling.
I replaced the clutch and flywheel (LUK same as original) in 2019 at 138k, the new one has only done 23K, it seems to me that the clutch cover is not fully disengaging so probably the cover is faulty (maybe the automatic adjuster mechanism this seems to be an extra complication that isn't really needed).
Has anyone come across this before?
I wonder what stops the pedal at the bottom of it's travel, is it just it reaches the bottom of the master cylinder or is there a stop in the pedal box? perhaps the stop is broken? I don't want to change the clutch only to find the issue isn't resolved.
The clutch works fine but I'm about to do a 1500 miles trip in France visiting the my wife's family and don't want to get stranded without all the tools to change the clutch (breakdown cover only covers a repatriation up to the market value so the car would end being sc***ped in France).
Thanks in advance

Hi all,
Got a question about the Vector-SR Spot Speed Camera.
I’ve been reading conflicting information about these cameras and would like to know if someone can clear it up for me.
Some state these are only speed cameras using radar to catch speeding, and once caught the images or video footage can be used to check for secondary offences like no seatbelt or phone usage.
The others state they actively look for offences such as seatbelt and mobile phone using AI but when looking online these Vector-SR don’t have this capability and its solely used for speeding offences and the AI ones are currently the big grey ones been trailed temporarily on trailers or from vans.
Would anyone here be able to clear this up for me please?
Thanks. Read more
Why does it matter? Everyone wears seat belts and doesn't use their phone - don't they?
Someone hit my parked car and left a note, but they didn’t include their name or vehicle details. Their note was hoping the damage could be removed by polishing, but when I looked at the car from my upstairs window, the reflection on the body appeared warped, suggesting it may be dented in.
There are marks on the paintwork. I’m unsure if it’s plastic sc***ed onto the body, as the marks are black in colour.... Read more

Hi there, I would love your advice on buying a used car after seeing lots of helpful threads here.
My wife is shortly due our third child in one month. We've got two other kids, one aged 3 and 3 months, one aged 20 months. So we'll have 3 under 4, which has its own hashtag on social media... We're currently squished into a 2007 Corolla hatchback so this needs to change!... Read more
You could consider a Honda FR-V if you can find a good one. They're a bit old, but they're good family cars.
They have two rows of three seats. The front centre and the two rear outer have isofix points so you can put the forward facing in the front and the rear facing in the back....

That makes sense. No fault code because the computer doesn’t know the reading is not correct. Remember, computers are clever but they have no brain.
Hi,
After a protracted search we decided to proceed with buying a seat Alhambra (2018, S trim) as our new family car (see previous posts).
We had an inspection carried out on it but didn’t try driving it with all the kids in so never tried the middle seat belt.
Got it home and went to put in the car seats and found the middle seat belt (which feeds from the roof) is covered in mould. It’s very very thick mould.
I’ve heard Alhambras can suffer from leaks but thought this was in the models with the sunroof, which we deliberately didn’t get.
We have owned it less than 24 hrs- from a not great dealer (hence the inspection).
Obviously should have done my own checks and feeling terrible that I missed this.
What does this mean for the car?
I’m going to approach the dealer on Monday - aware under consumer rights protection I can ask for them to repair/ replace the seatbelt but I’m more worried about what the underlying problem is that caused the mould.
Looking closely now, there is signs of some mould between the rear seats and on the third row back seat. Car has obviously been valeted prior to sale.
No obvious smell of mould or damp, no obvious wet carpets or footwells.
Would be grateful for any advice anyone can offer. Read more
Not uncommon to find a bit of mould after the car has had the seats shampooed. Wouldn’t be concerned unless there was more obvious signs of damp. The seats on these along with many other VAG products stain easily so it’ll have had a wet valet to prep it after years of family use.

I need to start using a wheelchair. I have never had anything to do with wheelchairs so I was wondering what are the important things to consider if you need to carry a wheelchair in a car.
I know that I want a self propelled chair without a motor. My car is a 2025 MG HS hybrid +. I have frequent hospital visits that involve hotel stays so I need to be able to carry a small suitcase although this could go on the rear seat.... Read more
I would choose a car with the lowest boot level I could find, with quite a wide aperture and definitely with no lip. Our Peugeot 2008 has a lipless boot floor level no higher than kneecap high - a good reference point if you are looking at different models on the forecourt...or supermarket car park.

Although this is a fairly new car, its still used, and MS exhausts are regarded as consumables, so I dont think you really have much claim against the dealer
On my Skywing, I "rust protected " the exhaust by abrading with aluminium, and then sheathing it in beercan on the straight sections, with thick aircon cladding foil.on the curves...
