  • Any - Sliding rear doors 2 Jul 2017 (Forum)
I was chatting the other day and the subject of cars with rear sliding doors, e.g meriva, b-max came up.  I know very little about them and said I'd post on here to get some opinions.  The forum is my open university of motoring. For me reviews, magazine or video, are not as useful as hearing what they are like in the real world.

  • Camera van on road that is being resurfaced 28 Aug 2014 (Forum)
I was doing roughly 30mph coming round the corner, panic'd slightly at seeing the van and slowed down to 20mph that is marked at the start of the rough road by a 'max speed 20mph sign'. However coming the other way were cars doing well over 30/40mph...  Does anyone know which speed they monitor?

  • Kia Carens diesel, any major niggles? 18 Sep 2013 (Forum)
The better half has decided that we need a new tow car for our caravan (950kg max). I'm quite happy with my old Peugeot 405 GRD, but it's an image thing and she who must be obeyed has spoken. After some research I believe the Carens, the old model, may meet all our requirements.
  • Vw Passat CC - Perished Continental tyre 13 Sep 2013 (Forum)
I just had to change one rear tyre, that can't be more than 2 or 3 years old, at the absolute max, because the sidewall was perished. It was quite obvious, can't understand what might mave affected only one tyre, all of them, have 6mm tread on. Might it be the one that gets the most Sun & UV on it where the car's parked ??

I have to admit that haven't got a clue what 7.T looks like. Also I thought that the limit applies to the max laden weight of the vehicle and that even if unladen the restriction still applies. Is that right? Can anyone help please? Ta. FTF Ooooh, and is the T tons or tonnes?

  • Maybach - Any idea who it/they might have been?... 30 Jun 2009 (Forum)
absolutely flew past me heading SE on the 25 just past Heathrow this morning then proceeded to undertake a line of 'ordinary folk' doing a mere 85! Reg: DB1001 ? a 'blinged to the max' black Range Rover HSE Sport Whatever crawled past me at 8mph in trés heavy traffic later in the afternoon at almost the same spot. Could it really have been 'GoldenBalls' himself? Motoring can be so exciting sometimes...
  • Using an inverter. 13 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I've an inverter, which I plug into the cigarette lighter socket, and use to feed a 4x extension lead. Charging things from the inverter when going along, and using low-powered accessories (150W max.) is fine - however, I noticed that the toothbrush charger - the sort that you plug in and the brush "sits" on - gets pretty hot - much hotter than when using "normal" mains electricity at home. Why does this get so (relatively) hot?
  • Honda Civic UK (2001 - 2005) - Replacing my Civic 15 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Looking to change my 2002 Civic Max, 100,000 miles and getting a bit rattly, for something 2-3 years old and similar size/economy. Hate the new Civics so it won't one of those! Considering a Jazz or Nissan Note, any other contenders I should be considering that will be reliable, economical and will cope with 3 adults and 2 grandchildren on short trips and 2 adults only for longer journeys.
  • Driving Instructor wages 26 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I was doing some rough sums and came to the conclusion you would have to work 60 hours a week to earn that, taking into account fuel, car maintenance, franchise cost etc. Bear in mind a 10 hour day as an instructor would only allow time for perhaps 8 lessons max when taking into account travelling time between pupils, lunch break etc. Any DI's on here like to comment?
  • BMW 1 Series E81/E87 (2004 - ) - Latest 118d - Too good to be true? 16 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Have read several good reviews of the latest BMW118d and for the first time I am considering a One series to replace my C-Max at the end of the year. I know interior space isn't great (I travel mostly alone) and styling is awkward but has anyone got this car? What is the real life experience of this car by owners? Can I expect 50 mpg?
  • TDI Turbo use when cruising 4 May 2007 (Forum)
Would 'reverting' back to N/A save any fuel? Just out of interest really! Only person I know of with a similar setup is Mad Max!
  • Which Verso Tyres? 12 Feb 2007 (Forum)
The Dunlop Sport 3000s fitted now have only done 20k, so I'm looking for reasonable price, longer lasting and low road noise / max fuel consumption. Oh, and a decent amount of grip as this pleasant beasty doesn't seem to mind being hustled (for an MPV!) Not much to ask from a modern tyre, eh? The hoops are 205 / 55 / R16V. Thanks, Madun.
  • '99 Focus 2.0 Coolant Loss 27 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Hi I have noticed that my coolant has dropped halfway between min and max over the last month, and there appears to be fresh fluid from a pump next to the auxilliary drive belt, just above the A/C compressor pump, is this the water pump?, and is this the most likely cause of gradual loss?
