The founder of the building firm? I thought he'd been killed in an accident some years ago - if not I'm glad to hear it!
It could be Charlotte Church - although Maybach is probably what she'd call James of Top Gear.....

Absolutely correct. He lived quite close and used to fly his Spitfire out of Popham airfield just off the A303 south of Basingstoke. There's a Sporting clay shoot at the eastern end of the airfield which was regularly graced by the sound of a Merlin engine on fine Sunday mornings.
A tale told to me by a neighbour who'd been in our local one night just after the accident. He'd overheard a conversation between two young guys.
Guy #1 "Charles Church was killed this week. He crashed his Spitfire"
Guy #2 "Oh heck! Those cars were always carp!"
I seem to recall that the investigation revealed a faulty re-built/re-manufactured crank as the cause of the failure.

The Candys are the brothers behind the now stopped development of Chelsea Barracks. A pair of - well I'll not say what I think, but I suspect the car may not be his much longer. Came up from nowhere like a rocket, all the property market is in thrall to them (except me) and I think I will be proved right as rapidly as they arrived.

When I were a nipper I 'ad a nice little business washing people's car on the estate.
One of my customers was Charles Church. He had a nice 3 litre BMW coupe at the time.
He was living in the first house he ever built.
He offered my father a fortune for his back garden. My father held out for more.
CC bought somebody else's back garden for the approach road to his new housing estate......
