• Vx Corsa '08 - Oil overfilled. 11 May 2011 (Forum)
  Hi,   3 weeks ago I had my Corsa serviced by Vx dealer. I checked the oil level yesterday and it's over the max on the dipstick. I can also smell an oil smell which was the same smell as when one of my breather hoses split last year. As the dealer is 20 miles from me, what's the eassiest way to remove just a little oil?

  Mumsie has a Volvo V50 T5 AWD fitted with Bridgestone Turanzas which have been on the car for about 2 years and have covered 10,000 miles max. They are wearing well and evenly but are definitely "part worn". Today, one of these tyres failed in operation and got shredded. Question:  Can a brand new tyre - with lovely deep tread - be fitted to the car without damaging the "four wheel drive"  transmission system?

  Sister needs a new car pronto, and has boiled-down her selection to the above 3. Max spend 6000 quid. All 2005/6 cars, petrol-engined, under 30,000 miles and intends to keep for a very long time. Which would you choose for a long, trouble-free and economic life? I've advised her to avoid the Fusion, and prefer the Astra.

  i have just had a recon engine fitted. i am having problems starting when the engine is hot starts ok when cold but as soon as the temp gets to the max. it takes a long time to start. its 130 tdi vw 2002 awx type pd engine. runs perfect apart from not starting when warm.

  any car..general question ive been sold some gates fuel hose that the parts shop insists is fine for inj use...although all the inj hose ive seen has the max psi/bar rating on the side its gates 3225 8mm hose 345-07 n 79426 ive tried to google for the specs but cant find nothing
• Skoda Fabia (2000 - 2007) - coolant sensor /steaming radiator 14 Aug 2007 (Forum)
  I have had trouble with a coolant temperature sensor, replaced it and shortly after had warning signals. Expansion tank was empty and steam rising from the radiator. I filled it with coolant to max then drove home, still warning light, still steaming. Has the rad blown? Is it a hose problem? Is it something else? Is it safe to drive five or six miles to a dealer?   ALDI are having a sale on car stuff this Thursday, they have some pretty good deals like a jump starter with air compressor for 25 quid... other stuff includes trolley jacks at 9.99 (2 tonnes max); axle stands, creepers, impact wrenches, etc. etc. I don't work for them, but thought people might be interested.   I'm contemplating replacing my ageing Granny with a Rover 214 SEi, probably on an M or N-plate (ie latest available in old shape). I'd like as few miles as possible (max 70k). What should I be paying? Are there any pitfalls with the Rover 214? Any well known faults? Could I do better for my money? Thanks for your help. Never rub another man's rhubarb.

  As the clutch wears on a mk2 Golf, does the cable need lengthening, or does the slack need taking up? The reason I ask is, having just changed the clutch, the cable is on close to max length adjustment and the release lever won't have much more room if it wears 'upwards'. Please, someone please tell me the cable needs lengthing with clutch wear, and I haven't made a 'box out again blunder.

  Nissan dealers are now charging £25+VAT just to find price and delivery for parts for Jap imports. So if you've got one of these, do as I did, and give them a list of 10 (max) items to get your money's worth, even if you don't want the other items! Strange attitude, considering Toyota now have the capability to find parts for imports at the parts counter FOC.
