Need a car with high suspension and comfortable seats - what do you recommend?

I am in my early fifties and have degenerating spinal problems. I currently drive a 2002 Skoda Octavia Elegance 1.9tdi, with 128,000 miles on the clock. It has been a resounding success, extremely comfortable for me to drive and very economical to run. Engine remains very responsive and powerful but the rest is deteriorating. It is increasingly difficult for me to get in and out of the vehicle and using can be uncomfortable occasionally.

I am looking at buying a 2.0-litre Skoda Yeti Elegance, owing to its high suspension and range of easy visibility from the driving seat. Are there alternatives to the Yeti which I should consider? And should I get a petrol or diesel?

Better to go for petrol, which, to get automatic will mean a DSG in a Yeti but VAG is now close to completing its worldwide recall of 2.6 million DSHGs to change the oil. Also worth looking at a Ford B-Max Powershift, a Hyundai ix20 auto or a KIS Venga auto.
