  Just received an email about renewing my car insurance from Direct Line. It's up from £360 to £700. Max NCD and no change in circumstances. Will of course phone them up and shop around, but this is almost a 100% rise :-(

  Hi im after a car ill be doing 17k miles a year, ideally a petrol, space is not important. I have a 2 budgets in mind around the 4k mark and another option 6k max. Economy is essential because at the moment im only getting 36mpg part motorway/part A roads.   Thanks

  Recently (unexplainably) the raido volume has become barely audible. The reception is good but the max volume is very low. I have been thru the manual and tried all the obvious stuff!! Any ideas?? Much appreciated, BL

  Did so and found it was black and about on min. Added the free litre they gave me and it now reads max and still black. It it time to visit the main dealer. The sticker on the windscreen says longlife servicing.

  I have a 99 Vectra and I'm wondering what I should expect of the Aircon. If I set the airflow to recirculate and the aircon to max cool what sort of temperature difference should I expect between a thermometer in the middle of the car and one in the aircon output? Thanks in anticipation of an educated response.

  What I know: ticking noise from the engine, not terribly loud but easy to hear from inside the car it seems to come from somewhere on the drivers side of the engine when you lift the gas, the sound remains equally loud the ticking only occurs when engine is at normal temperature, not when it's cold the engine runs perfectly fine, normal amount of power and torque To me it sounds like ticking cams, but I've had only one car before so I could be wrong. We checked the oil level, it was only just enough so we filled it until right under the 'max' indicator. This didn't help unfortunately. We went to a dealer, but I'm not sure if he understood what sound we were referring to. When you open the bonnet to listen, the engine makes so much noise by itself that the ticking is hard to pick out.

  As mentioned in another thread I have been driving a C-Max 1.6 TDCi Zetec for a few days. Generally very easy to drive and impressively flexible for a 1.6 ltr diesel even five up though has a lot less ultimate urge than the 2.0. The electrically assisted steering is interesting, the Sport setting makes it feel responsive on the back roads though nervous in a straight line above 50 mph, the Standard setting is ideal though the Comfort setting would certainly help the elderly or slight with parking.
