  • Happy Birthday: Alfa Spider 9 Mar 2016 (News)
Box office success led to sales achievements despite the car’s misbehaviour in front of the cameras, and the Spider went on to become one of the USA’s most popular European imports, despite costing more than a contemporary Chevrolet Corvette or Ford Mustang, with half the cylinders and a quarter of the engine capacity. Increases in engine size to 1750 and 2000cc helped, but only a little. It was priced at a similarly exotic level in the UK – for similar money, customers could choose a Jaguar E-Type or Austin-Healey 3000, yet somehow the Spider acquired a niche following, and one that would sustain it for an incredible production run.

  • New Mazda 6 On Sale From 26th January 16 Jan 2013 (News)
Now it’s available, from £19,595 for the very well equipped 2.0 petrol engined SE, at least 9 months ahead of next year’s new Ford Mondeo. The car comes on big wheels, but don’t let that put you off. The 17” wheels have 55 profile tyres so ride quality is not compromised. The ride is also surprisingly good on the 19” wheels with 45 profile tyres, but you only get them on top-end ‘Sport’ models.
  • Radicals to Battle at Castle Combe on 1st October 20 Sep 2011 (News)
That will not stop the likes of Southampton's Adam Prebble to go all out for another win in his powerful Rover Turbo. Whilst the circuit's outright Formula Ford championship has been settled, there is still plenty left to fight for. With the absence of champion elect, Rob Hall, Bratton's Ben Norton will be favourite to drive off into the distance in the Wiltshire College Spectrum, but behind him will be a titanic battle for Class B, as well as the runner up places.
  • Roaring Start to Cholmondeley Pageant of Power 15 Jul 2011 (News)
Visitors can see the remarkable Oaktec Honda Insight rally car (banned from competing for being too fast), the all-electric Nissan LEAF hatchback, Volkswagen's latest BlueMotion products and the brand-new 62.8 mpg BMW 520d EfficientDynamics (making its first UK public outing). The area also features vehicles from Jaguar, MINI, Ford, Citroen, Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi. One of the Pageant of Power's many claims to fame is its live-action combat power display. The British Army and the RAF will be using the estate grounds and airspace to conduct a combat power assault on a manned 'enemy' position situated directly in front of the watching crowds.

  • Contradictory Results From Electric Car Consumer Surveys 30 May 2009 (News)
This is why we would encourage anyone who wants to help protect the environment to look at some of the low-cost eco-models such as the Vauxhall Corsa ecoFLEX or the Ford Focus Econectic. They are at the cutting edge of green motoring, combining great fuel economy with low road tax costs and offer a far more practical solution to reducing Co2 emissions over the short to medium term than electric vehicles."

  • Renault Avantime Here 16th May, from £24,050 3 May 2002 (News)
However, the interior is light and airy, not dark and claustrophobic, the rear seats can be used by adults over long distances and the luggage compartment is larger than an S-class Mercedes-Benz, meaning you don’t have to choose between rear-seat passengers or more than one change of clothing.” (MB is going to love that comment.) In Renault-speak, “Avantime both challenges the current orthodoxy regarding the design of the executive coupé and rediscovers a long forgotten sector: that of the luxurious Grand Touring GT Coupé with space for at least four adults to relax and travel in comfort.
  • Volkswagen e-Load Up driven 20 Mar 2014 (News)
Well, regardless of what engine is powering it, the Load Up has 1m3 of carrying space – the same as a Ford Fiesta van which is one of few rivals in the small car-derived van market along with the Vauxhall Corsavan. The boot opening is slightly narrow at the base due to positioning of the lights and there's a significant load lip – good if you don't want things sliding about but not so helpful if you've got heavy or awkward objects to transport.
