1937 La Salle Made £17,100 at Auction Yesterday

Tue, 22 Feb 2005
This ‘nearly new’ 1937 La Salle sold for £17,200 plus commission at BCA’s very successful classic sale on Monday afternoon. The car is unique, with just 1,620 miles under its wheels in its 68 years and, having been stored in heated garages in Monaco and California virtually all its life it is literally ‘as new’.

Meanwhile. In the other halls at Blackbushe on Monday, big Renaults were still attracting low bids. Possibly because they were all manual and the Vel Satis had cloth interiors, but a 40k mile 2002/52 Avantime 2.0T bid to £7,850, a 32k mile 02 reg Avantime bid to £8,450, an 18k mile 02 reg Vel Satis 2.2DCI Privilege bid to £7,800 and a 19k mile 2002/52 Vel Satis 2.0T Privilege bid to just £6,850.

2003/53 Espace 1.9DCI Authentiques with 10k – 12l miles bid to £11,700 - £11,750; a 7k mile 04 reg Espace 1.9DCI Authentique bid to £12,500, a 12k mile 2004/53 Espace 2.2DCI automatic expression bid to £13,900 and four 2003/53 Megane 1.5DCI 80 Dynamiques with a/c and 9k – 14k miles bid to between £7,050 and £7,500.

In the Porsche section, a 17k mile 2003/53 Audi TT 3.2DSG bid to £20,300, a 54k mile 98R Porsche 911 996 3.4 Carrera 4 Tiptronic sold for £25,900, a 10k mile 2003/53 SAAB 9-3 2.0T Aero sold for £14,500 and an 8k mile 04 reg Mercedes CLK 240 Avant Garde convertible sold for £31,850.

Leaseplan had some cheap PY reg Picasso 2.0HDIs with 98,000 to 130,000 miles which sold for between £2,500 and £3,000. A current shape 82k mile 2001X Mondeo 2.0TDDI 115 LX with no rust in the doors sold for £3,500. But to my mind bargain of the day among the mass market metal was a 66k mile 2001Y Mondeo 2.5V6 Ghia X which sold for £5,250. An awful lot of car for the money.

Big sales tomorrow and Friday. And Top Car again on Monday 28th.
