  • PSA/Ford 1.6 HDI 20 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Seeing that this engine is now available in the new new MINI made me think, this must be about the most widely available engine these days, knocking previous favourites (various VAG lumps and A-series) into a cocked hat. Let's see now: BMW MINI Citroen C4 Citroen C5 Ford Fiesta Ford Fusion Ford Focus Ford Mondeo Mazda 3 Peugeot 207 Peugeot 307 Peugeot 407 Volvo S40 Volvo V50 Can anyone think of any more? But more seriously, is this good news for indy garages? - i.e. will the same engine diagnostic computer work on all these models?
  • 4x4's & misreporting 17 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Saw yet another TV news item recently about a London Borough (Westminster?, Kensington?) which is cracking down on gas guzzling 4x4's by tripling the parking...

  • Pre-registered - when? 27 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Mrs andy's much loved Picasso (I know - don't laugh) is nearly 5 years old, and we think it might be time for a change. Looked at a Mazda 5 today, and was impressed with the fact that all the seats fold flat, and also the sliding doors. However, don't really want to take the initial depreciation hit, so when can I expect to see 'nearly new' models appearing on forecourts?
  • Owners Manual Howlers 2 Sep 2004 (Forum)
"Using a cup holder to hold hot liquids while the vehicle is moving is dangerous. If the contents spill you could be scalded..." etc etc Is it just Mazda trying to cover themselves...?
  • one stop shop for best car deal 26 Oct 2003 (Forum)
HJ's regular latest best offers is good, but you still have to wade through long lists. If you could, say, type in "Mazda 6" and get an instant readout of easily comparable prices (and how long they're valid for, of course), what a boon that would be. Time for an entrepreneur to step forward, surely....
  • Car reliability survey 14 Apr 2003 (Forum)
The French not looking too good eh ! Audi were in at 10 and Skoda at 6 I think but VW were down at 24. Overall the Mazda 6 was voted as the best car apparently. Can anyone give more details.
  • Any recommendations? 15 Jan 2003 (Forum)
With a budget of about £8,000 plus trade in (that makes it £8,001!!)I\'m thinking along the lines of Toyoya Avensis, Mazda 626 etc. As I\'m really out of touch with the world of cars I wondered if anyone could recommend anything. Thanks Stuart

  • Replacement for Toyota Yaris Mk 1 auto 31 Oct 2023 (Forum)
Ideally the replacement must be a small hatchback with a Torque Converter auto box or a reliable alternative. First thoughts are a Mazda 2 but does a Nissan Note have a TC gearbox as these sell for less money? And when did the Yaris move over to the MMT gearbox which had such a bad reputation for reliability ?
  • Skoda Superb Estate, Volvo V60, VW Golf GTD - Which Car to choose 14 Jan 2017 (Forum)

  • Honda CR-V - Head Room 25 Jan 2015 (Forum)
HJ suggested the Honda CR-V, when wanting to change up an earlier Honda the CR-V and latest Civic were tried and rejected as in both there was no headroom and even when test driving the latest Mazda 3 I was touching the roof, I am 6ft 1in which is not excessive these days. As cars increase in size with almost every relaunch it seems strange that a population that is also getting larger by the decade is not being catered for, or built in to the new designs.
  • Fiesta Zetec S Diesel - comments? 4 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Hello All, Long time no post, but I'm looking at perhaps leasing a Fiesta Zetec S TDCI for a very attaractive £122 + some vat with a £1k deposit and I wondered if there are any owners out there who have any comments? I note that HJ likes that engine in the Fiesta I've got a Mazda 2 ts2 petrol at the mo which is fun, but is noisy, has poor seats and gives about 33mpg at 85mph (much better at 70 but I get so bored) Can I expect the fiesta to give the holy grail of the same fun handling, comfort and 50mpg at 85?
  • Hyundai i30 (2007 - ) - Is buying a white car a good deal 12 May 2009 (Forum)
I know everyone has their thoughts on white cars but I have been offered a geat deal on a white Hyundai I30 SE on a 58 2008 (against my new style 2007 Mazda 2 TS2 which really is to small) but want to know if colour does make much of a difference when PX time comes against say a red or blue (usually its 3 years for me)? Any thoughts on the Hyundai G3 protection its £249 which is a lot but my dealer says its brilliant protection for the car.
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 Is the 1.6 tdci just as bad as 2.0 ? 18 May 2008 (Forum)
I'm aware that this engine is a joint deal with Peugeot. Not sure if the similar problems with the CR systems of the Mazda 6 engine are related. The 1.6 tdci engine as used in the Focus ( also Mini ? ) does not seem to get the same bad press. I'm aware the engine is quite different, although also Peugeot derived. Is it subject to the same potential problems, or does it have a better track record ?

  • Honda Civic UK (2001 - 2005) - 01 No Beep Beep ! 25 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Any advice on what it could be and how easy it is to fix would be welcome. I have checked the fuses but there does not appear to be one for the horn ? I noticed a Mazda 6 owner has had the same problem in the last couple of weeks - A dodgy supply of Japanese Horns perhaps.............
  • Kia Pride - Screeching when accelerating 24 Mar 2007 (Forum)
A friend has an ancient but generally serviceable Kia Pride, the one that was originally badged as a Mazda 121. Its only apparent fault is that it makes a screeching sound when accelerating. However, it only does this when the lights are on. If, as he suspects, it's caused by a faulty fan belt, why would the screech not occur with the lights off?
