• Renault Clio II (1998 - 2001) - 01 1.4 Poor starting & engine stalls at low revs 16 Mar 2010 (Forum)
  The second more worrying problem is that it stalls at low revs I.E. when at a junction and in gear. The car was serviced at a Renault garage in March 08 by the previous owner. We have taken the car to two garages who have both put it on their diagnostics machines and cannot find a registered fault. The last garage said that it could well be a dirty throttle housing, and they dismantled and cleaned it.

  It has been for a fast run to burn off any deposits and taken into the garage fully warmed up. The Renault specialist garage seem to just want to write it off but it has only done 111k miles and in all other respects is fine. Can anyone suggest other things we could try before scrapping it, which I'm very loathe to do.

  I've seen endless threads detailing horror stories on the apparent design flaws causing turbo failure (or turbo + engine failure) affecting earlier versions of Renault DCI engine. Apparently it's not uncommon for the turbo's to feed off the engine oil and ultimately rev itself to bits. Can anybody tell if these turbo issues have been rectified on later cars?

  Hi all Please help...We have an 05 1.9DCI Renault Megane. We have had it for approx 5 months now and yesterday we had a message apper on the computer that said 'check injection' and the service message came up. We pulled into a car park, left it for a while, came back turned it on and the message was gone.

  also engine misfires/pinks/shudders at around 20/30mph when accelerating. Not a car expert but any suggestions please as having read the renault espace vol 1 and 2 some of these problems may apply. Have genuinely had few problems with this car and it has done what it says on the bottle.

  Hi there, i have a renault clio 1.8 RSI 1994, until recently it ran o.k, now it turns over and rarely starts, occasionally it has started after cranking for a while then stalls if foot off throttle, we replaced HT leads and they are relatively new plugs, spark is definately getting to the plugs, the weird thing is when testing the plugs for resistence two of the them are reading dead short, one is o.k and the last has high resistence!

But for every phase1 in decent condition there are about 5 phase 2s so im in the market for a phase 2 with the intention of swapping the front bits for phase 1 bits Is it simply a case of souricng phase 1 bonnet, panels, bumper and headlights and fitting them or would it involve welding / adjusting any hinges or fixings?

  I have recently bought a used 2006 Renault Laguna Initiale and I have found a couple of minor (yet niggly) problems. The automatic headlight adjusters don't seem to work, they are set in the lowest height ( leaving little visibility in pitch dark).

  I was then told the ECU had developed a fault and could not be repaired. I now face a hefty bill from a Renault dealer for the repair as the garage who did the service say the fault is a coincidence and not caused by anything they did, but I'm not so sure. Should this screw have been adjusted as I believe it is factory set and surely the ECU controls the idle speed?

  When I open the bonnet the coolant is down below the minimum mark. I put a new cap on the coolant bottle today (genuine renault part) but it has made no difference. The coolant is venting out of the cap- it is not leaking slowly but coming out all in one go. I only had the car a few days- it has done 102,000miles. I would be very grateful if anybody could tell me what to look at next.

  I am contemplating changing my Ford Fusion diesel and am considering the Renault Modus dci 86, New Corsa diesel and new Fiat Grand Punto diesel. As I am a scrooge like motorist looking to use as little fuel as possible I wondered if anyone knows how realistic the claimed figures are?

  The dashboard told us it was an electrical fault and we noticed that the immobiliser wasn't going off when we unlocked it. It is now at a Renault garage and they have informed us that water has leaked in to the engine and corroded the central engine unit. If they can mend it easily it will only cost £400 but it may need completely re-wiring which would cost thousands.
• Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 1.2 Electronic Fault Indicator Light 17 Aug 2007 (Forum)
  I have a problem with my Clio 1.2 2001 car, this has been going on now for about a year and a half, what happens is when you start the car whether its hot or cold the orange electronic fault and pre heating warning light comes on, when this happens you can only drive at about 15 mph, this happens mostly when the car is started but has done this to me at traffic lights once, the engine never cuts out but the revs are higher, if I turn the engine off for 15 minutes it will right itself and the light will go off and maybe will be ok for 2-3 weeks, its been at the Renault garage where they said nothing was wrong, has anyone else had this problem.   I have a Renault Espace Diesel 2.2 DCi(Registered in 2000) and have had repeated problems over the last few years which my garage have failed to identify. It starts up fine - but after driving for a while (usually on motorways for 1hour ) I experience a major loss of power accompanied by a warning signal and can limp along at about 30mph until I reach a hill!

  Hi All, Wonder if I could get some advice on my wife's car? She drives a Renault Scenic (New shape) 04 plate 1.6 petrol with around 22000K. Found that her back nearside tyre is worn on the outside of the tyre. I checked the pressures a while ago and notice that was down to around 20psi so pumped it up.

  Motorplan warranty premium plan refuse to pay as they say it is my fault I must have known there was a problem. Any one else suffered sudden turbo blow up. Local Renault garage where I bought the car last October are not helpful.   I have a Renault Clio 1.4 RT on an 'N' plate. The car has single point injection and is an automatic. I came to start it yesterday and it did not fire up, although the engine did turn. Usually when you turn the ignition on you get a relay click under the bonnet, the fuel pump buzzes and the fast idol speed udjusts itself on the throttle body.

  I have a '99 T-Registered Renault Megane that has recently started to make a sort of sloshing water noise, it comes from the front near side of the car, but i can't pin it down further. It is most prevalent when you first start the engine (especially so if the engine is cold) and if the engine is revved.

  Hi all, have been lurking for a while but now actually have problem! I have M reg renault 5 on 80K recently there has been a vibrating noise coming from the n/s front. The frequency of the vibration increases as the speed increases. I have not noticed any differences in handling at different speeds (between 30 and 60 mph).

  SWMBO's ageing Renault 5 has started (hmm, I'd like to have avoided that word) to play up on the starting front. The starter motor intermittently refuses to crank the engine over. I've checked that there's a 12V feed from the ignition switch 'D' position to the starter soleniod - there is - and the main high current connection to the solenoid and earthing are all fine.
