A Braking Prayer 26 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I would get a Volcane (mine is an Aura with rear drums) rear axle complete with discs, calipers and hand brake cables. My question is can I just swap the stub axles, back plates, hubs, hand brake cables etc and connect the calipers up to my existing braking system or will I need a different master cylinder/routing of brake pipes and different pressure compensators etc I know both disc/drum and disc/disc ZX's use a diagonally split braking system, but will I have in correct brake balance if the calipers are hooked up to the existing system? -

Ford Fiesta - Spongy brake pedal 23 Mar 2010 (Forum)
a friend of mine has a Ford Fiesta. he recently had the discs exchanged as his car was juddering when coming to a halt. Despite this, the car still judders when braking. what might be causing this? also, he feels the brake pedal is spongy. what might be causing this: i suggested an air lock, but what other factors may cause this problem? Finally, he says the brakes are not that sharp when coming to a halt at higher speeds. again, can this be improved in any way, and would worn calipers cause such a problem/ the spongy pedal contribute to this? -

I have SE estate that has lately had rear brakes seizing on. My garage ( who are usually good) have replaced both rear brake hoses and the caliper on off side. Prior to this one side then another would stick on and overheat. The front brakes do not stick on or overheat. -

Fiat Cinquiento offside rear brake plate 31 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi fellow car fanatics... A friend has offered to fix my girlfriends fiat cinciquento and says she needs a rear offside brake plate? I believe it is the bit that the back brake fastens on to... is this right? If I go into a fiat parts dealer, will they know what a rear offside brake plate is?!?! Following on from that, if anyone knows of a fiat parts dealer that sells online or over the phone that could supply the above part by post, that would help.... or somewhere near stoke on trent / stafford that I could buy one from.. -

Brake Fade. 3 Jan 2006 (Forum)
and was intrigued by a comparison test between a standard Jaguar XK8 and a XKR SVO. The road-tester kept mentioning how the standard car suffererd terribly from brake fade whereas the XKR with it's larger Brembo brakes did not. Now although i've heard the term brake fade before i've never really understood what it means or it's implecations or indeed how to achieve it. -
Scenic II brakes 28 Oct 2005 (Forum)
However I have been driving it this week purely to check if there is any issues. I have noticed that the brakes are very "snatchy" ie the pedal seems to travel quite a bit and then it suddently bites. There doesn't seem to be any gradual braking. Noticed it especially today when stuck in a traffic jam. Is there any issues with Scenic brakes like this or is it just down to me switching from my normal car (the Saxo) -

Nissan Almera Judder on hard braking 21 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Having now got the Almera back, I noticed that the brakes judder when fairly hard braking is applied. I'm not talking emergency stop here but simple harsher than normal braking can cause this. Wifey noticed this in the car before she picked an arguement with a wall in it. -
