1996 1.25 Adjusting brake light swtch - jim holland
My friend has fiesta whose brake light switch is not activated with the brakes off so it needs adjusting. Some advice says twist it 90 degrees then move it but I'm worried about breaking it as it won't easly move. Is that how it's done?

OK it was after midnight when I wrote it and I was tired.
You know what I mean. The brake lever doesn't push the button in enough to switch the lights off. The only thing I could do to make the lights work in an emergency was to tape a packing piece to the brake lever but that's not really a good long term solution.
The switch looks like it has a screw thread but it may just be ribbed and gripped by a collet.
The problem with this era of Fiesta brake switches is that the whole thing is mounted on a flimsy bit of metal which can be easily bent. You may adjust it , but it may well work back to another position after a while. Other than welding a rod on it, not sure what can be done about this other than periodic re-adjustment.
Yes it is. Just had the same problem, spent ages trying to work it out. Did it turn or did it slide? Both ! Turn 90 degrees anticlockwise, then it just slides where you want it. Turn back and Bingo.....job done in 30 secs.
