96 2.8 ABS kicking in under normal braking - dieselpower
having some problems with a bmw 2.8i 1996 coupe the abs is kicking in under normal braking although no abs warning light is on or coming on even when braking anyone any ideas?

Have you tried cleaning the ABS sensors?

i havnt tried anything yet will remove all 4 and clean any ideas on what to clean them with, carb cleaner or similar?

I would leave the sensors alone .Trying to remove them will problably do more damage as they are probably seized in the wheel hub.I have never seen any faulty abs system cured by cleaning the sensors.Make sure all the tyres are the correct size for the vehicle.You will need a techie with diagnostic equipment that is able to display live data to see if there is any discrepancy in output speed from each sensor.hth

Check for a cracked / broken / filled with gunge ABS ring.
