  • Toyota Yaris rear brakes locked 11 Jul 2006 (Forum)
My daughter has a "W" reg Yaris automatic. I washed it a couple of days ago and left it on the drive. Now this morning the rear wheels are locked solid. I've driving it gently to and fro, and tried forward and reverse. Any ideas? StephenH
  • Provocative driving 29 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Is yet another irritating and possibly dangerous game starting to catch on among chav drivers? I saw two examples of tailgating (on a two-lane road) followed...
  • Front Tyre Lifetime 16 May 2005 (Forum)
How long would you expect a set of fronts to last on a front wheel drive car? Obviously, I tend to drive rather harshly so expect them to last accordingly. Just curious what others tend to get out of theirs in terms of years/miles?
  • Does James Bond drive a Citroen? 13 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Parked in Milford Haven today, a tidy looking Citroen ZX. Nothing remarkable about it but for the reg number, M165 SPY. It was a proper number, not altered...
  • Insurance simple question 13 May 2003 (Forum)
If you drive a car owned by another person on your 'any car insurance' does the car have to be insured in its own right? OK If you park and leave it there maybe an issue. Is driving another persons untaxed car to a prearrranged MoT acceptable?
  • Red Letter Day 20 Feb 2003 (Forum)
My family have bought me one of these driving experience vouchers where you can choose to drive a Ferrari! Have any of the other Back-Roomers done this and what were their experiences, good or bad? I would be very interested to know. Many Thanks
  • question re: bus lanes 5 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Having recently been fined (and not for the 1st time) for contravening a bus lane, I no longer look to drive in them. BUT.... some bus lanes here in London are 24 hour ones, but there are no 24 hour bus services to drive in them. Isn't this a little bit strange?
  • How to get rid of old Sierras 5 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Drive them to Antibes (South of France), drive them around for a couple of years (untaxed and presumably no MOT), then dump them in the harbour area to rot. Was there recently and saw loads of the last taxed in 99/2000, crazy.
  • Second 12 car. 8 Mar 2002 (Forum)
As a good omen I got into work in record time today. [1] [1] Light traffic - there's not much scope for drive skill on my drive into work.
  • Third Driving Ban for 13 Year Old 9 Jan 2005 (Forum)
He committed the offences only five weeks after he had been released by a youth court with a supervision order and he is also the subject of an anti-social behaviour order. Last month, at Salford youth court, he pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, aggravated vehicle-taking and driving with no insurance. He had already had been caught twice for driving without qualification and also admitted breaching an anti-social behaviour order imposed last June.
  • Vauxhall Combo van 2010 1.7 Z17 DTH - Bought van. First drive. Problem list, help? 22 Dec 2022 (Forum)
Advisories: Oil leak but not excessive [8.4.1(a)(i)], track rod end ball joint slight play NSF inner [2.1.3(b)(i)]. Not sure what the numbers mean.   After a 6 mile drive:   1) Scuffing noise on starting only (with clutch pedal depressed), sounds like near LHS of engine, same sort of sound as rusty brake drum when brake briefly touched.   2) Chonk chonk chonk sound from NSF wheel area when driving, changes with vehicle speed.
  • What happens if someone passes away? (insurance) 3 Feb 2022 (Forum)
Also, car may get taken away if uninsured on public road  or fines etc...   The other option is to drive the car off road somewhere else, but can the Son drive it to do this? If insurance is not renewed. Then it will need to SORN and it is a pain for test driving a car.... As have to insure and re-tax.
  • Ford Fusion (2002 - 2008) - 03 1.4 EAC & Speedometer 8 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I continued to drive home but after a few miles and after turning off engine at traffic lights she started to drive as normal. Anyone any ideas? Are the problems with speedometer linked to EAC fail. Could the accident have caused the problem?
  • Driving test rules? 5 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Fortunately, I've passed my driving and riding tests. I'm not aware of any books that list the rules and what is expected in the tests. Why does the DSA not publish a set of rules so that people know how to drive during the test? When I did my riding test I had to do  a whole day of tuition to find out what I didn't know.
  • 07 Mazda 6 2.0 TS Diesel - Loss of Power: 2007 Mazda 6 2.0 TS Diesel 8 Dec 2013 (Forum)
This didn't cure it.  "Current" fuel consumption readings as I drive are good suggesting that the DPF isn't trying to regenerate as I'm driving.  The error code said "mass air flow sensor".  I had that changed, but the problem is still there.  Driving to and from work etc is a 15-20 minute drive and the car performs fine.
  • Volkswagen Passat TDI 130 2001 - Overheating at 50+ Heaters blowing cold 7 Feb 2013 (Forum)
There is no sign of water in the oil (or vise versa) even after the 1000 miles i did in 2 days driving to Italy. I have now flushed the water system with holts 2 step and still have the problem. If i am not driving and hold the revs 2000-3000 RPM on the drive it does not seam to bother it, the heaters will warm a little but not hot then soon as you go drive the car and get 45-50MPH plus it starts to rise and if you dont drop the speed the water temp gauge would hit red.
  • Does your car make you smile 17 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Heres the deal. I have 20k to buy a car. After driving around in a 51 plate Laguna for the last 3+ years I could finally get myself something newer. My Laguna Privilege has been enjoyable to drive but it is now starting to get one fault after another.
  • Test driving a new car 18 May 2011 (Forum)
Then, after planning in my head a good route that would take about 20-30 mins taking in different road types and a bit of motorway, I was treated to being driven by the rep 5mins down the 30mph heavy traffic road and then being allowed to drive it back again to the showroom. We got out, he parked the car and then just wandered back to his desk. I have a few more test drives planned for the coming week but this has somewhat put me off a bit.
  • Mazda 6 2.0tdi 2008 - 6,250 mile oil change!?? compulsory for some!! 28 Feb 2011 (Forum)
id=42&mode=view I am trying to find out - do you lot find this to be acceptable? If you: a) Driving in dusty conditions b) Extended periods of idling or low speed operation **(This is the argument)** c) Driving for long periods in cold temperatures or driving regularly at short distance only **(the short distance argument)** d) Driving in extremely hot conditions e) Driving in mountainous conditions Do you agree to change your oil levels at 6,250 miles if you do the above??
