  The missfire is between 1.0 and 1.5 revs,worse on the overrun-Changed coil,idle control valve,cam and crank sensor,plugs and leads and air filter.Somebody help me please,starting to pull my hair out here!

  It has electronic ignition ie. no contact breakers and I have checked everything else, like the coil, plug, HT lead, earths, etc etc but NOT the battery. The bike cranks well and all the lights are also ok. However, the pathetic spark will not ignite the fuel air mixture and it floods. The carb' has been stripped, inspected and cleaned and it not at fault.

  Hi guys, I've got a uni project to do and it's based on MG Rover, the question is asking me to explain, from a business perspective, events leading to the takeover of MG Rover by Nanjing Automtive and it asks me to explain why the linkup with SAIC did not happen. I've also got to outline what I think the future holds for MG Rover at Longbridge.

  i carried out a cylinder leakage test: cylinder 1.. 8% cylinder 2 ..8-9% cylinder 3.. 30% cylinder 4.. 35% this is at cold. i accept one and 2 as the car has covered 173 000 miles and you are going to lose some compression through wear ect. cylinders 3&4 are excessive, and with air bein supplied ( through the spark plug hole, with valves closed )i can hear a hissing through the filler cap and dipstick, its also present down the exhuast from number 4. there is no bubbles in the coolent. so this leads me to believe its valve seal failure, as piston ring failure would result in alota blue smoke.. so heres the question does anyone have any experiance in cylinder head/valve seal replacement on this engine?

  Her mother is now 95 and stopped driving! The Fiesta is fantastic to drive and a good example of mid 1990s Ford improvement which lead to the Focus. Anyway. I do not think the car has been properly serviced so will take it in for a full sort out and MoT test. So a few questions: - 1. Cambelt or chain? 2. Car ten years old and 37,000 miles.

  Damn! I fixed all that stuff before of it not running righ, that was new plug leads, disi cap rotor arm and plugs. It ran well for a few runs (I don't use it that often). Today drove into town, waited for missus to finish her appointment. 1hour and half later, it wouldn't start!

  Not as extravagant as all of your cars but I did see what seemed to be an ST220 in white before. Now I've never seen one in white which leads me to believe they don't exist but the lengths this guy went to, (it had a red interior too) he deserves for people to think it's an ST! -- Adam

  The poor motorist has then to brake and make space rather than hit the motorcyclist. - While waiting at traffic lights, pull alongside the leading car. When the lights change they cut across into the path of the car not realising that the car is also pulling away at the lights. A very interesting manouver. - Young lads/lasses with restricted speed scooters travelling at the restricted speed, 27 MPH, smack in the middle of the lane and will not pull over to allow ordinary powered vehicles to pass
• Alfa Romeo 33 - cutting out 3 Aug 2005 (Forum)
  I wanted some suggestions about a fault with a recently purchased Alfa Romeo 33 1.7 IE 1990 model. I bought it in good condition with recently serviced items (oil change, air filter, plugs, leads and cap). It was running well for the first couple of weeks. Then I noticed it was occasionally cutting out when slowing down towards a junction. But it would restart immediately each time. Now the problem has developed in that it would cut out after about 5-10 minutes of driving and fail to restart (turn over but not fire up).

  Interestingly, when he used the car the other day, the radio asked for the code - which it should only do if the power had been interruped, so it had obviously suffered a power outage unnoticed. Now, I would initially suspect a bad earth or break in the main power lead, but the symptoms seem to suggest something slightly more obscure. Any ideas out there?

  Over the past 3 or 4 weeks the problem appears to be getting worse. I have already replaced the HT leads, spark plugs and air filter without success. My renault dealership wants £40 for half an hour with one of their technicians to plug the diagnostic box into it - the thing is it will either start and no problem will be apparent or it won't start at all.

  surely the code is stored in the ECU and that then sends a signal to the fuel shut off valve in the pump? The pump on the new engine is slightly different in that it has a damper and a pipe leading to the oil filler, whereas the old one doesnt have these. Any help will be appreciated. Jon
• Peugeot 205 Engine Power Loss 29 Mar 2005 (Forum)
  Put it on to a rolling road, all the chap there could tell me was that it had high HC and he had to advance the timing to 21 degrees at idle to get any power, retard it anything less than this and the power drops away. Changed all the leads, plugs, distributor cap, rotor arm etc, no joy. Compression good and equal accross all cylinders, cam timing checked and seems OK. If any one has any ideas, or know of a garage in north Kent that could help, would be greatly appreciated?

  Lets hope the changes to F1 lead to a more entertaining season next year. F1 is going down the plug hole regarding entertainment value. If the powers that be want entertainment get rid of Hungary, Barcelona, and Magny Cours. These 3 races are normally the peak of tedium every season.

  You can almost predict where on the road it will happen. I replaced the distributor and rotor arm at Xmas, so can't be them. Could it be the HT leads? They are still the originals, i.e. nearly 10 yrs old. If so, why does it only do it once per journey. Car mostly used for short journeys - could it be that? 2) When you pull up at a junction, the engine is always slow to return to idle - first drops to 1500rpm, then slowly to idle (around 850rpm) rather than drop directly to 850rpm.

  Hi, My partner had trouble starting her Renault Clio 1.4 Auto a few weeks ago So I popped to the local halfords and bought a new set of plugs and leads, which i fitted in and it then started absolutly fine till yesterday when it left her stranded in a tesco car park. She called out the RAC who said there was no spark but managed to get it it going and suggested that the 'crank angle sensor' (which I must confess ive never heard of) may be on its way out and it would probably be a Renault dealer job to fix it.

  The car started this morning and then again this evening totally normally. I checked the battery leads were tight - about all I could do due to the arctic weather and not having a garage. If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful.

  I would be grateful for a back-to-basics check list I could give to him. (It sounds to me like HT leads or damp getting into the distributor cap). The car, he tells me, is a 1997 (German-spec) model with the KA24E engine. Thanks from me (and him) in advance.
• Rover 214 continual cut out 1 Nov 2003 (Forum)
  Even called AA who suggested a stopper pedal was broken, but garage says there is only a stopper motor and so far this has not been replaced. Tried new distributor cap, leads and various other cheap solutions. Tried bypassing CMU with theirs and same problem happened so said it could not be this. CMU now been sent off for resetting as garage says it is giving lots of ?????

  I have had VW and other specialists run diag but cannot find a problem. I have replaced fuel filter HT leads and spark plugs. I am not quiet sure what else to check as I do not want to pay VW £70 an hour to test all the electrics! Can anyone give me some pointers??
