Ford Galaxy 2011 (1.6 Eco) - Wet drivers side footwell 19 Apr 2016 (Forum)
My Galaxy has a very wet drivers side footwell each time it rains. Thought I had checked the scuttles were OK by pouring water down the windscreen, which drains out (both sides) under the wheel arches. Are there other drains I have missed or another explanation? Coolant and washer levels are stable, so not coming in through those areas - appears to be only when the weather is wet. -
Mazda CX-5 - issues 18 Sep 2014 (Forum)
18-6-2014: Stress cracks across the windscreens are becoming increasingly common because the edges of the glass are exposed at the screen pillars where they are vulnerable to stone chips. These then turn into cracks right across the screen, same as on a Mazda 5. -
Hyundai Coupe - Hyundai Coupe screen wash jet too strong 1 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I know most of the problems with these are when the pressure is too low due to blocked pipes etc, but does anyone know how I can reduce the force of the screen wash jet on one side of my windscreen? It used to be ok but has actually got too strong and so most of the water goes over the top of the screen! In the past my garage has been able to adjust it but they have now closed so am not sure how it is done. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 03 2.0 - auto wipers not working correctly 25 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I had a replacement windscreen fitted and signed the fit off satisfactory. Unfortunately when driving at a later date I realised the auto wiper function did not work. Previously when the wiper was positioned at intermittent the wipers would move fast or slow depending upon rain fall on the screen , now they just operate at one set speed in intermittent mode. -
Mercedes Benz E-Class W210 (1995 - 2002) - 03 3.2 Heater vent selection problem 5 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I have a problem with my 03 MB E320 CDi inasmuch as no matter where you direct the airflow from the heater it will only direct air to the windscreen which I assume is a failsafe. I have not yet started to remove the centre console to examine the heater but assume that the vents are manipulated with little vacuum motors in which case first port of call will be the vacuum source. -
Citroen C4 (2004 - ) - Lights reflection 12 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I thought it was 2 white lights on the dash shining towards the rear! Very strange indeed, must be due to that bottom bit of a C4 rear windscreen being perfectly at right angles to road and also low enough to reflect straight back! -- 2007 Seat Altea XL 2.0 TDI (140) Stylance 2005 Skoda Fabia vrS -
Golf MK2 - How to test washer switch? 12 Feb 2007 (Forum)
My windscreen washer pump has stopped working, and the only thing I am sure of is that it is not the fuse. I took the wire connector off the pump, and the contacts could do with a bit of a clean, but are not corroded. -
Tarting Up Trade In 8 Apr 2006 (Forum)
For private sale I'd try to make it look as new as possible, but for Dealer Trade-In is it worth fixing; - 10mm bullseye out of direct vision on windscreen (fixed by Autoglass) - Nackerred original drivers mat, dirty other mats. - Stone chips. I've no problem sending £15 to get it thoroughly cleaned inside and out and it's got full dealer service and MOT certificates. -
Peugeot 406 rain sensors wipers 15 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Do all of the things suggested in the manual (instigating it after ignition switch on via. manipulating the stalk position) but it just does a pre-determined 5 second wipe, regardless of rain / sun. The sensors are there on the windscreen, and aren't obscured / dirty. My previous 406 used to work fine (very effectively) I wonder whether all of these fancy electronic systems ( including the climate control) are separate units or are all controlled by a systems CPU, in which case, disconnecting the battery might re-set everything? -
MOT Test Insurance 2 Jul 2001 (Forum)
The limits/exclusions are: £750 per claim, less first £10 Must be taken out 3 months before test 8 years/75,000 miles Cost of test/re-test Windscreen, headlamp alignment, exhaust, CAT, brake friction material and consumables Structural damage Fair wear and tear to items such as brake pads, tryres, clutch etc. There seems endless scope for argument about the "fair" and the "etc." -

ford focus 2001 - front coil springs, shock absorbers problems 22 May 2010 (Forum)
she just found out that she needs the front coil springs replaced, a pair of front shock absorbers done, both front brake discs and pads, a tracking check and also a new battery. We were quoted 713.55 by the garage which we cant afford to pay so its stuck there at the moment. -
Load Transfer 14 Oct 2005 (Forum)
If you were to drive this car in a straight line and then brake, the two halves of the car would still move as one (you have mirror symmetry about the cut). If you took another car, and replaced the cut along the length of the car with a cut across the car with the same type of ball joint at the centre of gravity and try to go round a corner, you would find that either the front of the car, or the rear would roll further - depending which end had the stiffer suspension in roll. -
Vauxhall Viva - Poor design for extended carrying capacity 3 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I was impressed before I saw the car by the seat bases being tiltable also but that is a complete waste of time in my opinion if the front seats have to be well forward all the time. Both my wife and I need the front seats pushed back, to move them forward would be to make driving impossible for me as I would be right up against the steering wheel. -
vw passat 1.8 turbo 1998 - problem with front drivers side brake 22 Jun 2011 (Forum)
it started with the brake calliper on the front drivers side locking out on me and i only just made it into a car park, i stripped the brake down and couldn't push piston back to put new pads on (new caliper needed), also because i drove it for a couple of miles the front drivers side got very hot and melted the abs sensor wire(actual wires seem undamaged) replaced caliper and pads but now wont pressurise and abs light on on dashboard now, also tried new flexi hose but still nothing, the other 3 brakes still work although wen u brake the pedal down it goes right to the floor before they work, not sure if its master cylinder or something to do with abs, brake fluid pumps through pipes but as soon as i put them on the caliper nothing happens doesnt even pump through bleeding nipple, any ideas or some1 with same problem please help as it will save me a lot of money putting the car in the garage or doing unnecassary diagnostics, thanks -

Front Foglights - why? 16 Nov 2004 (Forum)
I am totally fed up of being dazzled when driving home at night in the winter (mainly on unlit country lanes) by these people. The worst culprits are tall 4WD vehicles as their Foglights are just a bit higher than in normal cars. Peugeot 406, Fiat Punto and last shape Fiestas also seem have incredibly bright front fogs too. Cars approaching on inclines and bumpy roads also make this use of front fogs extra annoying. In my opinion, there is no excuse for using them unless visibility is so seriously reduced that they are needed (and even then they don't always help). -

Rear Lights - Was it a Toyota Prius.??? 8 Nov 2018 (Forum)
Driving on the A12 last night returning home and this "thing" in front of me with two "lightning flashes" for rear lights.. 2 feet long, vertical..... blinding and choose your adjective. At least the whole thing didn't light up brighter when he braked. I slowed down and let a couple of cars get in front of me.
