  What would be a reasonabe asking price (spares or repair ) for a 2001 Golf Mk4 1.6 S with 119000 on the clock, FSH but with NSF damage which is wheel, wing, suspension, drive shaft, wishbone, windscreen, airbags deployed, A frame probable damage where wheel battered into frame. A very rough figure may make me feel better about what I've just sold my daughters motor for :-)

  (Page 4) Presumably in other press also: Its a voice activated instant messaging system that flashes up a message to other drivers (the example given is "MOVE OVER please") onto the windscreen in mirror text so it can be read in the preceding driver's rear view mirror and it's to be fitted as standard on all 5 series from today. The acronyms are particularly illuminating. If anyone rings for further details of the system, please let me know what the response is...

  I have a y reg 2001 peugeot 406 2l petrol estate ,the 20 amp fuse protecting my windscreen wipers has started blowing when i switch the control to auto rain sensor it did on three occasions . any ideas please also should i take it to a main dealer for diagnosis and any repair. ps i put a 30 amp fuse in it and it blew that one after a while . seems ok if i switch wipers to manul positions.

  Windscreen washers in my "new" (1995) Volvo 940 packed up. On investigation I found what seemed to be a sort of silicone gasket between the filler tube and the reservoir. I cleaned it. It's a filter! Covered on both sides with a layer of black slimy gunge.

  Anyway, it looks pretty well abandoned to me (I guess it was stolen and joy-ridden (for want of a more accurate term) there and there is a sticker on the windscreen "Council Aware". Previously, I've seen "Police Aware" stickers. Is it the new EU environmental regs that place the onus on Councils to tidy up after these people - am I to assume the police are no longer interested in this sort of incident?

  I don't care for shiny plastic at the best of times (it gives out the same message as shiny tyres, IMHO) but making the area under the windscreen reflective is just plain stupid. I used alcohol to get it off and it's taken two or three applications to remove it completely. Has anyone else had this experience, or are valeters on the Isle of Wight peculiarly dim?

  My brake drums were rusty. Having cleaned them and sprayed them with heat resistant paint, am I okay to follow the paint instructions to harden the paint by baking at 160 degrees, or will that warp the drums?

  half of egr valve is stuck in the manifold. have tried to remove it but it is fairly stuck, have sprayed with wd 40...would heating the manifold with a gas torch  help...or could it be blanked off with a blanking plate and the solenoid part plugged in.......HELP////

  2007 mini cooper d, oil pressur light on, runs ok when cold no light on, heats up and of course light on and starts knocking, no oil getting to the top?? is it worth putting a new oil pump in and seeing if it will sort it long enough to sell?? or is it shagged??

  The heater control  in my 98 fiesta keeps mucking about , you put it about half way but the heat just gets hotter. So you turn it down but it stays hot. Is the control unit electrical? or run off cables? Any help much appreciated..

  [endif]--> My 2.0 VW Golf V TDI (2008) keeps cutting out when driving & idling. It then won't restart for a couple of minutes (no lights on the dash) but radio/heating fan still work.   Any suggestions as to what is causing this?

  I am trying to locate the pollen filter for our 1994 BMW 525i. This is the 1st BMW we have owner and it is German spec. The air flow for both heat and A/C is really bad. I was told it is the pollen filter. Anyone know where to find it?

  Hi I have a chrome exhaust on my bike, and rust is starting to go through. Can anyone suggest where I can buy chrome paint (preferably heat paint) which would be shiny. I have tried the usual (halfords, b&q, homebase etc). Thanks Greg

  hi, i will be removing the exaust on my fiesta in a week or so but the bolts look very corroded where they join at the manifold. whats the best way to get them off and can a prep them with some sort of penetrating spray im a bit worried about the heat effect on flammables thanks

  After being on reasonably loud for some time, the volume on my Phillips 660 dies down and cannot be increased. If I turn if off for a few minutes then back on it's fine. So I have a heat-related problem. Is it likely to be something I can easily fix?

  Big trouble with car,bought it a few months ago,had to fit new struts and springs ,then onto front brakes,binding bad on front left,so decided to fit new calipers and discs, and pads on both sides,but now brakes are binding badly,it is vented discs on it,but for some strange reason,cant fit the long pins which calipers slide on,can only fit short ones,and every body says short ones are for solid discs,help driving me nuts,even fitted new caliper carriers but still the same.
