"It's a bad example of a type of bus that was never particularly efficient when new." explained Pag, "It's noisy, uncomfortable, slow, and it smells like a bus drivers armpit, but when you are using rubbish you can't expect too much." Since leaving London on the 19th of September, the bus has covered 5000km through France, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, the Balkans and Greece to reach Turkey. In that time Pag has collected over 500 litres of chip fat and biodiesel made from used cooking oil to put in his tank. After rest and repairs, the journey will continue on Tuesday. -

Vauxhall honours Great War 7 Nov 2014 (News)
Regarded by many historians as the ‘First Automobile War’, the conflict saw for the first time companies like Vauxhall, Rolls-Royce and Sunbeam work closely with the British Army to mobilise key personnel. King George V was transported to Vimy Ridge in northern France in a Vauxhall, and the Staff Car was also the first vehicle to cross the Rhine following the Armistice in 1918. The car in the accompanying shots is one of just two D-Type Staff Cars known to survive. ‘IC-0721’ (its military number) appeared in the Steven Spielberg film War Horse, along with Vauxhall Heritage Collection’s ‘Prince Henry’ model. -

Rare Bentley 'Embiricos' returns to Crewe 16 Aug 2012 (News)
In 1939 Bentley designer Ivan Evernden worked with Paulin on a sleek Mark V prototype called Corniche. Unfortunately it was in France when WWII broke out and was destroyed during a bombing raid on Dieppe while awaiting shipment to Britain. Post-war, many of the lessons of the Embiricos Bentley reached fruition in the glorious lines of the 1952 R Type Continental, and as such continue to be reflected in the iconic shape of today’s Continental GT coupe. -

1920 Rolls 20HP Goshawk in Barons Auction 6 Mar 2008 (News)
Originally fitted with a Hooper touring body, it was used extensively by Henry Royce and his then Chief Designer, Ernest Hives, at the company’s design centre in Le Canadel, France. Royce also used the car personally at home in the UK, returning it to Derby for modifications as the 20hp model was developed further. In 1925 a replacement engine was fitted and 4 G 11 sold into private ownership. -

The Bugatti spent most of its life in France and crossed the Atlantic in 1957, when purchased by an American collector, before returning to Europe in the 1980s. Burnett encountered the Atalante when it was in the possession of another notable collector, Peter Rae, who had had the car completely restored, although, unusually, it retains its original chassis, engine, gearbox and body, all with matching numbers. -

Restored motor show E-type to be unveiled at London show 11 Feb 2016 (News)

The French auction company Artcurial Motorcars has been enjoying a very successful couple of years since its big staff reshuffle, and it's hoping for another big-numbers sale on 20 October topped off by a wonderful 1968 Lamborghini Miura. The Lamborghini (above) has enjoyed an interesting history. Sold new in France, it started its life as a demonstrator for Parisian dealer Paris Monceau, originally presented in silver grey with mustard coloured leather interior. It has been in the hands of the current owner since 1998, during which time it has been maintained and driven regularly, with the engine and transmission re-built by marque specialist Toni Sissini. -
Fiat Panda crew shatters the world record 12 Feb 2013 (News)
A sudden diversion in Italy due to a shock snow-fall forced them onto a new, longer route up the eastern side of Italy. It added distance and time and stress. Then, in France, the Panda found itself sliding around in snow after the Mont Blanc Tunnel - and on past Geneva. Progress slowed some more, limping in single file across a landscape that had suddenly become a total white-out.
