  I generally run my cars on Shell V-Power or other high octane fuel, and have done so for many year. In almost every car i have driven, I have heard some pinking (at least I think its pinking), usually whilst driving at medium speed up a hill.

  Hi, does anyone have any opinions regarding the reliability and quality of the new T5 transporter/Caravelle. Our 02 T4 caravelle has been very dissapointing (no where near as bad as the v-Class, but that's not saying much). We are struggling for alternatives as we need a wheelchair accessible vehicle that has enough weight/power to tow a decent sized caravan. Any ideas would be most welcome.

  Now she's passed her test Mrs V's quest for her next car has begun. Fed up with the lack of power steering on her otherwise solid Felicia she's gone through some car buying magazines (and the CBCB) and come up with a small short list of cars as contenders.

  Hi All, I am trying to get hold of a code for my radio I brought the car and didn't get a code for the radio and had a battery fitted and they didnt keep the power on. Any chance I can get some help please? I got the serial Number SOCD1X7V024059 so I guess the V Code is: V024059 Many thanks Neil

  HonestJohn, In your Car Advice column for The Telegraph, 13th Jan 2012, you advise that Shell V-Power is the best petrol and BP Ultimate is the best diesel. Can you tell me why you believe this to be the case?  I'm aware of the argument put forward about cleaner fuel systems and delivering better economy it's just what is about one specific brand versus another.

  Admittedly the 2005 read out showed only small amounts - same garage. The only difference is the engine has been run on Shell Optimax & now V Power for nearly 12 months.

  A typical 2.0 TD large hatchback weighs about 50% more Has an engine 50% bigger Produces 84% more power (138 v 75bhp) Accelerates quicker, especially in-gear acceleration and... only uses about 1/3rd more fuel. So, where are the 80-100mpg small cars then? Until then I'm over the moon with 45mpg.

  m still unclear about the answer. On my past trips to France I stuck to using branded diesel (Shell V-Power & BP Ultimate) because I was unsure if I was able to use Gazole, the opinon from the Forum was that it was OK to use and that it was the same as regular diesel here in the UK. Now I?m about to go on holiday to France again and was going to fill up with Gazole while I was out there, BUT when I filled up at my local station yesterday I noticed (for the first time!)

  As a Honda HR-V owner, I've spoken to my Honda dealer ref a more powerful engine being installed. The last that I heard was that the 1.0 litre turbo of 129 bhp (130 ps) would be installed, but I'm not sure whether that would be mated to a CVT gearbox.
• Shell Diesel Extra being phased out in London? 18 Mar 2010 (Forum)
  Have others noticed that most shell filling stations in London no longer sell Shell Diesel Extra but ordinary Shell Diesel with the colour on the pump nozzle changed from black to blue or so. Is it in other to force Londoners to buy the expensive V-Power diesel?  This ordinary diesel gives a much lower mpg compared to Diesel extra, at least for my car   I have noticed this is not so in other cities like Birmingham.

Still got if anyone wants I think. Glad he's got that big old V-8 that's very powerful, keeps those diesels away. Have a good day over there.

  My cars average real life MPG (Honest John) is supposed to be 49. My reading fluctuates between 58.9 and 58.7. I have run the car only on Shell V Power diesel since owning it and have done way over 2k miles with this fuel. The car has been properly serviced and maintained by the book and has 60k miles on it. I have not done a proper brim to empty test yet, but wondered if other people's trip computer MPG's are as way out as what mine seems to be?

  Having had exceptional reliability from my wife's sequence of Honda Jazz vehicles over the past 10 years or so, I was not expecting a melt-down on my 3 year old CR-V Hybrid. Last week the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree with multiple error warnings - and even more alarming I lost all power applying the brakes unless I pushed very hard on the brake pedal.

  Now 11 months, still satisfied, no further compaints, after 3 fill ups on Tesco momentum, shell v power, a noticeable improvement in fuel economy when on a "run", about 8% on my pifometer.... Due a service in December, so will go to the excellent Kerridges.. Off to see a UK spec MG HS shortly, but not on my future list...

  Last year due to a van re designing our Volvo we were loaned...don't ask me why.... a brand new Mecedes S class 3.2 diesel. It has comfort, enough power for anybody, a boot you could get a small sofa in and everything seemed excellent quality. Economy was v good for a large car too.  If money were no object I'd have one tomorrow but the thought of the bills would keep me awake at night.
• Honda HRV - Honda HRV 2015- Suitability for Towing 26 May 2016 (Forum)
  We have not been able to source a towbar from Honda or other manufacturers which is capable of powering the fridge and recharging the caravan battery for our HRV. Honda state ‘ that the capacity of the alternator with the HR-V is not high enough, meaning that during towing …….. the caravan can drain the battery’.
• Ford Fiesta - 2011 Ford Zetec 1.25 engine hunting - light now on 24 May 2016 (Forum)
  Our 1.25 Zetec (2011) has done 33000 miles and following a recent Trust Ford service starting hunting. We run it on Shell V power as get better mpg.  The engine management light has now come on. Ford want £78+ VAT just for the diagnostic before doing any work. What are the points to check please before shelling out stupid money.

  Hi all, can I use a cleaner such as Millers power plus injector cleaner in my 2002 130hp Pumpe Duse diesel Golf? I am worried in case it damages anything as these engines are so specific with regard to oil grade due to the v high injection pressure.
