Cheap Cars Cheaper at Auction Today 18 Oct 2004 (News)
While the 49k mile 97P Mercedes SLK 230K with oversize alloys mentioned last week sold for just £9,700, so SLKs are well into price-range now. And it was another MINI Cooperday. The totally loaded 8k mile 2004/53 reg Cooper S Works with every single option available including climate control, satnav, leather and twin sunroof bid to £17,500, which was a lot less than the vendor wanted. Another Cooper S, this one a 22k mile 2002/52 in unfetching banana yellow bid to £12,400, again not enough. -
The Only Thing to Smile About at Auction Today 17 Sep 2004 (News)
While a 3-year-old 40k mile Y reg Cooper with all the bits including leather and full-length solid sunroof ran to a ridiculous £9,800. A lone 28k mile 03 reg new Avensis D-4D T3-S hatchback sold £11,700, a 1k mile 04 reg Zafira 1.8 Elegance sold for £11,250, a 1,275 mile 53 reg Fusion 2 sold for £6,350. Audis and BMWs were dear too. £11,750 looked like a lot to me for a 38k mile 02 reg A4 Avant TDI PD 100. -
Cayenne Turbo at Top Car Today 26 Jul 2004 (News)
A 50k mile Y reg (three years old, now) X5 3.0i Sport manual with satnav, TV and leather sold for £25,800, and in Hall 2 a 75k mile 2000W Jag S-Type manual with a slightly noisy V6 saw a top bid of £5,500, which must make it the cheapest S Type in post ‘Sweeney’ history. We’ve mentioned Rovers on the floor in more ways than one. -
Today’s Auction Ups and Downs 12 May 2004 (News)
We’ll start with the downs. That 02 reg Volvo V70 in the photo is a D5 S manual with alloys, air, CD and 83k unwarranted, but a full service history to a franchised service at 81k, just three weeks ago. No V5, but a good buy for a private man at £10,750. Mondeos have stayed cheap, even without mega miles. -
Two Top Car Auctions in One Today 22 Dec 2003 (News)
Lexus IS200s are still holding up well: a 48k mile 2000X IS200 SE auto bid to £9,500 provisional; a 62k mile 2001X IS200 SE bid to £8,775 provisional; an 80k mile 2000XIS200 SE sold for £8,550; and a 119k mile 99V IS200 S bid to £5,050 provisional. Two 2000X Jaguar S-Type 3.0 SE autos in the same attractive metallic blue illustrated the true difference mileage makes. The 30k miler sold for £12,950 and the 60k miler for £11,400. -
Bargains and Premiums at Auction Today 17 Oct 2003 (News)
And the fact that a trader can still turn a profit after paying monster money tells you that the car was still cheaper at auction than it would have been on the open market. Yes, that is a MINI Cooper S in the photo. 2002/52 reg, 6,643 miles, and on the right set of wheels. Bidding started ridiculously low, my pal took it to £14,400 thinking he wouldn’t mind the car for his daughter, but a trader eventually bought it for £15,400. -
