  The 2 cars which I fancy most are ASX 1.6 Attivo list price c £16000 K with metalic, and Mazda 3..The petrol is cheaper, around the same price as the ASX, the Diesel a bit more, but obviously better economy ( I do 10-12K/year) Ideally I would like the ASX, as I do a bit of work in the countryside, so parking a bit off road would suite the clearance of the ASX etc My 2 choices are also driven by my main desires in a buy and keep car..Reliability, safety features both excellent in these, need to carry a bit of stuff with 4 adults occaisionally ( which the mazda will just manage) I have little experience negotiating with dealers, as I tend to keep cars, is my budget likely to land me one of these...is there a better time of year to try....any better suggestions for a vehicle..?

  I have an old Mazda 626. After a visit to a specialist aircon garage to get the air con fixed it developed a diesel leak. Not sure if this leak is related to the mechanic trying to fix the aircon as the leak is where one of the fuel pipes enters the engine block.

  Car recovered to dealer who kept it overnight on a trickle charge. Battery charged but technician not happy with voltage readings so Mazda gave permission for new battery to be fitted. Odd thing is, when I picked up the car I set about re-pairing up my phone with the bluetooth expecting that it and the radio pre-set channels had been wiped when the battery was swopped out.

  Bought a 3 month old MX5 from a franchised dealer on 31/12/13, only 65 miles on clock, allegedly a demo car. Every 2 weeks it fails to start and battery is dead. Been in local Mazda dealers for a total of 5 weeks out of the 11 weeks i have owned it, it has had 3 batteries and the latest one has just failed again. Dealer can find no drain on battery, but something is clearly draining it and presenting itself as a faulty cell on the battery.

  This winter, water has somehow got into the boot, saturated the carpets, something that didn't happen last winter, nor with her previous MX5 (softtop) which she had for over 5 years.  So, today we get the Mazda dealer to check it out... not the easiest problem to diagnose, I admit, but this is their answer... you park the car on a sloped drive, that's part of the problem, also this winter has been very wet, that's the other part of the problem.

  With a budget of around £5-6k, and annual mileage of around 8,000 miles, I don't know whether or not to go for: A 4 year old VW Passat 1.6 Diesel with +140K miles on the clock A 7 year old Mazda 2.0 Diesel with 65K miles on the clock A 5 year old Skoda Octavia 1.6 with 40K miles on the clock A 5 year old Ford Mondeo, with 60K miles on the clock Or am I missing a trick - and should I be looking for something comletely different!?
