  A feature in 'Which' magazine News:Cars article dated 4th January 2007 indicates that latest safety tests have revealed that poor seat-belt buckle design in several cars could cause them to be accidentally released by flailing arms etc in an accident situation whereby occupants are vulnerable to injury or even risk being thrown from the car in a crash. It further states that cars made by Chrysler, Honda, Mitsubishi, Subaru and Volvo all had models affected by this type of buckle design. The worrying factor is that when 'Which' called upon these manufacturers to change the buckle desgn on affected models, only Volvo agreed to look into the problem.

If I go to Kwik Fit or similar what oil should I specify and would this have any effect on the Volvo warranty? Which is the better of the following 2 cars : Ford Mondeo 1.8LX Estate & 2.0 Estate? WE are replacing a Volvo V70....do they compare?

  I suspect that the problem lies with the electronics controlling the slow running as I had a similar problem with a Volvo which Volvo said was normal but the local agent cured. Has anyone had a similar problem and had it fixed?

  It's had two previous owners, has done the right side of 60k miles and will be serviced, taxed and MOT's if I buy it. Somehow, the guy will take my car as part ex and so, the Volvo will cost me 1600 quid (plus my car, which, spookily enough, has done the exact same miles as the Volvo). So BR, over to you. Ignoring the "what the Hell are you playing at buying a Volvo S80?" argument, I like stupid big cars like this.
