  I have an 1998 Audi A6 quattro avant which has now done 142,000 miles and is the best car I have ever had (and I've been driving since 1947) The car has just had a new MOT and the cost of necessary repairs was £0 The MOT advisory items include that new tyres will be needed soon.

  A few people had used him to locate and purchase good cars and had made recommendations on that basis. I'm currently looking at new or used Audi A5 Sportbacks and wondered if I might do better to have a word with this chap. I did a forum search but to be honest couldn't really think of what to put in the search box. If anyone could remember his details I would be grateful for them.

  It is quite well priced but I could buy a 51 plate focus Zetec for a similar price but there is no comparison with the build quality. I assume that the down side of purchasing the Audi will be the cost of spares and repairs and probably the insurance. Can anyone tell me about the fuel consumption and are there any other known problems that may occur with an A3 of this age and mileage.

  hi all. im thinking of buying an 1995 AUDI A6 2.5 TDI SE 140BHP 6 SPEED with 205500 on the clock. it has a fully service history and is tax until july 09 mot until oct 09. my questions are what do you think i should pay? will it cause me much problems as the mileage is hi?

  Hi, Audi A6 1.8T. Fitted with standard viscous-coupled fan and electric fan. All completely normal at town speeds. At high speed, the coolant temp falls to the bottom of the guage. After a bit of experimentation this turns out to be engine speed related.

  Hi, I have an Audi 80 H reg. Recently, I was having stating problems and eventually it wouldn't start at all - the fuel pump had given up. I replaced this with an aftermarket pump, but now still have stating problems both hot or cold.

  Hi Need to sell our 1998(R) Audi A4 Avant 1.9Tdi(110) Quattro SE with 145K. The online glasses guide (via the vauxhall site) wont admit to a 1.9Tdi quattro before 2002. :-( I'm trying to decide between putting it on ebay or breaking it.

  I have an Audi A6 2.5 TDI 1998 auto. It starts fine first thing when stone cold; it starts fine when hot but if I drive it and it stands for 2-3 hours it is the devil's own job to start. I have been told it may be an injection pump fault but I wonder if it is a malfunctioning temperature or injection sensor?

  grease used to lubricate the caliper slide pins on the brakes? It's the stuff that comes in a small foil sachet with the caliper overhaul kits. Audi are willing to sell me the stuff for £35 VAT for 100gms. I would prefer to pay less. It doesn't seem to be stocked by the local motor factors, and I don't need anymore brake overhaul kits. If it makes any difference, the fronts are Girling G60s, the rears are Lucas 38mm 'Collette' calipers.

  So far the problem has disappeared after several attempts and the inconvenience has been minor, but I am concerned that the fault may become more serious. Needless to say this never happens when I take the car to an Audi garage and they say they have never come across a similar fault. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has experienced this problem and/or has any ideas.

  For no apparent reason and with no warning my heater (2000 Audi A4 Avant 2.4 petrol engine) was hardly working yesterday. The air-con aspect seems fine in so far as cold air can be produced, but even on a high heat only a little warm air was forthcoming - to be precise plenty of air flow but only a little heat.

  I`m in the market for an Audi A3 1.9 SE, 130 5 door 52 plate, 80k ish on the clock. I`m looking at auction, probably an ex lease car and wondered if any one visiting auctions regularly on this site has an idea of approx how much they go for (obviously there are variable factors).

  I have an Audi A4 disel sometimes it starts o.k and othertimes it might start and stop 5 or 6 times the vag com tool gives the fault codes below. 2 Faults Found: 01117 - Generator Terminal DF Load Signal 27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent 17978 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer P1570 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent Readiness: N/A 1 Fault Found: 01176 - Key 07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent Not sure if its the reader coil or something else can annyone shed any light on the subject.

Also on my list is the Audi 80 Cabriolet same as princess Di's Basic quetion what should i look for on either model ie where do they rust and any mechanical weak spots. Any help would be appreciated

  Hello, My first post, so, here goes... I've just bought a 1998 Audi A4. I think its quite a good car, I've had it all checked over, HPI'ed, MOT'ed etc and it's come through ok, and it's also got a full dealer service history. The only thing that it doesn't have the original Owners Manual, so I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me where I could get one from.

  I have had my a6 for 18mnths with no problems but recently when on motorways etc at around 70mph there is a distinct loss of power and pulling and it feels like the engine is missing. I have been to a independent Audi garage and they have run a diag' and no faults have come up. They suggest the problem could be the air mass sensor but they are not sure. They also told me to check that the turbo was working. They suggested that i remove the hose from the front of the turbo and spin the shaft to determine seizure or not.It looks like a fiddly job to me.

  I bought an Audi A4 Avant (98, R) in April and have been very happy with it so far. . . . . . but now two things; 1. the A/C display panel has gone a bit wonky and 2. the alarm has started going off (at night only!!)

  Greetings. I have an aged 1991 Audi 80 2.0 which I use as a second car. It's done 180,000 but still plenty of life left. My one recent problem relates to the clutch pedal. The pedal will no longer rise to the top of its travel to put it in line with the brake pedal etc.

  So I've rung a few places for a quotation - which is pushing towards what I paid for the car at about 300-500. So a few questions: 1. The tensioner. Nobody seems to do these, so it has to be original Audi at £120 or so. How necessary is it to replace the tensioner as well. One mechanic said 'only if it's making a noise'. 2. The waterpump. One garage quoted for its replacement, another didn't and didn't seem to think it necessary.

  My car is an Audi 80 2.0E Sport 1995 model type B4 and after 97k miles thought best to change the gearbox oil especially as I intend to keep the car for sometime. Service book states that this is filled for life, surely oil must deteriate over time.
