I have had my a6 for 18mnths with no problems but recently when on motorways etc at around 70mph there is a distinct loss of power and pulling and it feels like the engine is missing.
I have been to a independent Audi garage and they have run a diag' and no faults have come up.
They suggest the problem could be the air mass sensor but they are not sure. They also told me to check that the turbo was working. They suggested that i remove the hose from the front of the turbo and spin the shaft to determine seizure or not.It looks like a fiddly job to me. Is there another way to test if the turbo is working. Please help
Thanx
Dave
P.S. the a6 has 94k on the clock

What engine? Size and fuel.

Following almost exactly the same problems with my VW TDI (assuming your A6 is a diesel), I would almost certainly advise that you change the MAF (mass airflow sensor). Cost approx. £75 plus VAT exchange.
See my post "VW Passat TDI PD (115) Power Loss" from approx. one week ago (Plus literally dozens more with a similair problem)

You what? what kind of garage is it that tells it customers to take engine parts apart to find out if they are working?

One that's trying to save its customers a bit of money?

Sorry,It's a petrol 1.8t

Another possible cause is ignition coil failure. That also causes rough idle etc, though no doubt there are degrees of failure. It seems to be a replaceable item by dealer as there is a known problem due to faulty batch(es)! Search for examples:there are plenty.

Because your car has a turbo (I assume the "T" in the model code means turbo), I would think it will have a MAF sensor like the TDI's, but I may be wrong.
If it has, try changing it!!!
