Panoramic Sunroof - Has anyone had problems? 23 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Like the front windscreen the sunroof is part of the stuctute of the car and was wondering how will it stand potholes, rough roads etc. Ford S-max owners have reported seeing crack in the sunroof after a few years. Nissan brochure says they are very strong. Just that in the past i had a cricket ball smash through my small sunroof on a '96 mondeo. -
How can I strengthen my MINI's rear parcel shelf? 20 Aug 2010 (Ask HJ)
The rear parcel shelf on my MINI has warped or bent such that it will not fit over the rear wiper motor cowl. When the hatch is shut it now forces the... -
Toyota Camry - Toyota Camry '95 Drivers Elec. Window problem. 27 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Can't find sight nor sound of any Camrys in local breakers, or motorfactors stocking said bit/s, so was wondering if the prices quoted sounded about right for the job, and also if the motors themselves are prone to failure? Making it wiser albeit wallet-denting to replace both? The technician at the Toyota dealer stated that it's a rather difficult, fiddly, time consuming job to change, hence the price quotes, and that it was easier to just replace the entire assembly, which of course left me feeling daunted to take on the task myself only having replaced (many eons ago) the window-gear in an old Pug 405 I had. -
iPhone 4 - Review - problems with antenna? 20 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Mrs O came up with a solution in the Apple store. "Just put a coat of clear nail varnish on the bare antenna" She`s thinking of applying to Steve Jobs for a position as Senior Antenna Engineer. And I thought my own childhood experiences, of attenuating radio signals by gripping bare metal car radio antennas, might get me a consultancy. -
Bristol 403 - Dispute over charges 12 Jul 2010 (Forum)
My questions are what would you consider a reasonable price for rewiring a large early 1950's saloon car that has had the interior and engine stripped out and secondly how can I recover my car? -
Ford Focus - Ford Focus II: couple of issues, help appreciated 6 Jul 2010 (Forum)
When you press the screenwash button on the end of the left hand stalk it wipes the frount windscreen but it *washes* the back one :S wheras when I pull forward on the stick - to wash the rear windscreen, it washes the back one and wipes the frount!Clearly it's confused. I've tried selecting reverse and then doing it - no difference and I've checked I'm right about what it should do in the owners manual and on my wife's foci, so i'm not going mad the car is doing it wrong... -

Citroen C3 LX 1.4 Petrol . - Citroen C3 engine idle issue 26 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Hello everyone, I am new to Honest John and I could really do with some honest, accurate advice in regards to my C3's problem. The low down: (No warning lights, no starting issues, engine jumps to life no problem, battery is fully operational - Volt meter tested) Okay so here's the story, had the vehicle for 12 months, no issues, Clutch has been changed at 60K miles. -
The Donkey trap future - motoring with no motor 31 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Elegance is dead really don`t you think? It`s been a steady downhill run since the Art Deco era and now across the world slobbery prevails in dress and attitude. Shambling figures in tatty jeans, bloated by the puffery of wadding and internal padding. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 01 2.0 Running problems 17 Jan 2010 (Forum)
The only thing they could come up with was maybe a problem with the injector codes. Looking in to this problem it seems like it is just the TDCI?s that suffer from this problem or am I wrong? If it is the injector codes I have heard that it can happen again soon after it is sorted. It is an old car now everything is perfect apart from the fuelling is it worth it? -
Bye Bye Pug - Hello Audi A3 8 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Put in contact with an Audi saleswoman through a relative and have secured a good deal, with a very substantial discount on a ........(drum role).........Audi A3 2.0d Sportback, S-Line, Black Edition in Misano Red. Just before signing on the dotted line, I managed to get the first service for free as well. It's in the showroom and ready for immediate delivery. So the faithful Pug has one more week left. -
Changed times with winter conditions 25 Dec 2009 (Forum)
As part of this they showed footage of the "old days" with bad weather and this showed: a postman pulling a sledge full of mail over a frozen loch lomond a full street of residents all out shovelling snow off pavements and roads a steam train blasting its way through a snow pile up Now OK we have got a lot more traffic , we have H&S and we have lots of wealthy lawyers but how many of this week's weather issues could have been avoided? - everyone clears the pavement in front of their house, maybe the road as well. If neighbour elderly or infirm, do theirs as well - rather than ignoring the "don't travel unless necessary" message, pay attention to it - rather than blaming councils and everyone else about lack of gritting, what can you do to help? -
Ford Probe (1994 - 1998) - 95 2.5 Electrical / water short 20 Nov 2009 (Forum)
If so, where are the water traps and where shall I liberally apply gaffer tape and bathroom sealant to prevent this happening again? I noticed that the fuse box in the N/S engine bay was making a buzzing at the time of the problem, so maybe this could be a lead culprit? {shouting in header amended. Welcome to the forum, btw} -
Health & Safety.Useful or Waste of Time? [RO] 6 Nov 2009 (Forum)
An Army veteran, selling poppies in a shopping centre in Portsmouth, was asked to leave as he had not undergone a "Risk Assessment. 2. 2 Metropolitan police officers, despite having a spare wheel and a jack in their vehicle, had to wait 2 hours for the designated contractor to turn out and do the job for them. (This may be more a contractural issue than H&S to be fair) 3. Feeling Green, and wanting save whales or chipmunks or whatever, a couple walked 400 yards to their local waste disposal centre to get rid of some rubbish. They were told that they could only come by car as there was no approved pedestrain access. -
Beware hiring an "automatic" car. 2 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Instead you had to select R or a drive position on the quadrant else it was in neutral. I did a RTFM to find out what was the proper procedure(s) Select E ( auto) M ( manual) or R ( reverse) "Do not turn off the engine until 1st or reverse is engaged properly and completely. Parking the vehicle without a gear engaged may cause the vehicle to move result in an accident" I discovered the problem very early in the hire. -
Toyota - Suspicious Californian Lexus Crash 8 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Since that could be a public relations disaster for Toyota, and perhaps for the industry in general, its perhaps not surprising they would prefer to blame a carpet. I?ve seen no reports in the ?official? media questioning Toyota?s explanation. I guess Woodward and Birnstein have retired. -
Body assembly 29 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Perhaps it had to come off for painting, perhaps the old one was damaged and this is a replacement. In any case it is slightly lopsided and too low all the way across, and the n/s wing panel isn't fitted right either where it meets this big plastic bumper-grille thingy. Tsk. I thought women noticed that sort of thing. I would expect a decent body shop to be able to adjust it quickly and cheaply, but when I mentioned it she became alarmed.
