  BMW’s shares have today dropped by a startling nine percent, while Daimler, Fiat, Peugeot and Renault have all seen their share values drop by between four and seven per cent, as the scandal deepens.   The emissions scandal is already shaping into the biggest crisis that the automotive industry has ever faced, with suspicion placed on every major car manufacturer.

  BMW is the worst ranked premium manufacturer, and third-bottom overall with 196 problems. In contrast, Mercedes-Benz tops the premium charts, with 88 problems. SEAT and Peugeot both have 99 problems – and a glitch is one. Probably anyway, because JD Power found that five of the top 11 problems relate to technology – audio, communication, entertainment and navigation, that is.

  The 1987E in white has just 59,000 miles and has been converted to automatic transmission that might be a bit easier on the vulnerable rear axle. Each were estimated at £4,500-£5,500. Neither of the Capri 2.8is were sold. Peugeot 205GTIs had been rising rapidly and though this 1991J 1.9 has a sunroof, which makes it less desirable for track days, it’s still a fun drive and we thought likely to appreciate. Estimated £3,000 - £4,000.

  A recent online discussion about old cars, the tag ‘classic’ was applied to a car I was discussing; more specifically, that the motor in question, a Peugeot 205 Gentry was ‘not a classic’. Considering I never said it was – but actually think these cars are quite special – I was more than a little puzzled.   Getting dearer, a 110k unwarranted 96N Primera 1.6LX sold for £325, a 115k 96N Rover 630Sli auto sold for £475, a smart 109k unwarranted 96N Rover 416 new shape sold for £500, a 97k unwarranted 94M Peugeot 306 1.4XL 5-dr sold for £625, and a very smart 122k unwarranted 96N Scorpio Ultima 24v sold for £850. A clean, white 100k mile 2000X Skoda Fabia bid to £1,600 provisional. Upscale just a bit, a 50k mile 97R Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 Limited sold behind book for £4,875.

  Still Some Auction Bargains, But Not Many Shopping Days Left 17 Dec 2003 (News)
  A 38k mile 99V Nissan Micra 1.0 Inspiration sold for just £2,150, maybe because of its bright yellow paint. A 107k mile 95M Peugeot 405 1.6GLX was reserved at £100 and sold for £200. A 133k mile 96N Subaru Legacy 2.2GX saloon sold for £400 (unless I mis-heard). In comparison, a 67k mile 2001Y Mondeo II 1.8 Zetec was on the dear side at £5,450.

  Audi TT for £11,900 at Auction Today 25 Sep 2002 (News)
  And a 63,000 mile 98S Rover 416i 5-door saw the hammer fall at just £1,650. Not everything was as cheap, of course. The first Peugeot 206 Coup Cabrio I’ve seen at auction: this one a 2,000 mile 2002/51 reg 1.6S automatic with a non-functioning roof, didn’t sell to a bid of £12,550. A 48,000 miles unwarranted 92J but genuine looking BMW 318iS coupe ran to all of £3,750 (not bad for a 10 year old car).
