  I presume that £2000 off the price of a new car relates to the list price and that other special offers don’t count. £2000 seems to me the sort of new car discount you could get anyway. However, Mazda are offering £4000 of a CX-5 which does seem attractive. The engine has to emit less than 144 whatevers of CO2 to qualify, which, without checking, doesn’t mean much to me.

  Hello everyone.  Thanks to the help from the people of this forum, I was able to pick a Mazda 2 for a reasonable price as my potential 2nd car. On recommendation from friends and family, I had it taken to my local garage for a thorough inspection so I didn't buy anything fishy. The only thing that came up was a rattling noise coming from the engine when it accelerates above 2000 revs - the mechanic couldn't determine the cause without looking into it further, costing me yet more money for a car I may not own.

  Hi, looking for some advice on a problem i have with my 04 Mazda 6 2.0L Petrol 60K on the clock. Over the last few weeks i have noticed a noise coming from the alternator belt area, particuarly when the engine is cold. The best way i can explain it is a rattling sound, similar to a loose exhaust heat shield I have checked for anything loose and all is ok.

  Hello everyone. I purchased my 1999 1.8s Mazda MX5 a couple of months back, and in the last week I have noticed a loud knocking that occurs at 3000rpm upwards. It is in the main upper section of the engine. A local garage inspected the car and told me the little/small ends have gone.

  The thing that concerns me is that I see nothing similar with other cars on the road. Have read the discussion thread on Mazda 6 DPF filter problems and am concerned that this could be something similar although it is a petrol DISI engine. Anybody have any thoughts?

  Hi All, Now it's my Mazda 323's turn to play up! - I've noticed that gears are getting harder to select, they work fine, I can select them all, but moving between gears isn't as slick as it usually is. Playing with changing the gears when the car's off and there are audible sounds when changing.

  I have just had new tyres fitted to my 97k mile Mazda 626 2.0 petrol, and the fitter brought to my attention that the clutch biting point was very low. I have only had the car a couple of months and accepted this 'as normal' but he was trying to be helpful ( I think!)

  While I don't have a problem with this per se, the mechanic who I use said that pattern body panels may not be a very good fit. Am I within my rights to insist of genuine mazda body panels, but other bits (like headlamp and front panel) can be pattern. The engineer who assessed the car obviously has a duty to save money for the insurer as do we, but does that mean we have to sacrifice quality of repair?

  Hi all, The 'check engine' light is lighting up on my Mazda 323 (2003 1.6GSi petrol manual). I first noticed it earlier today. On two journeys since, it's gone off as normal after the engine starts, only to light up again a couple of minutes later. Engine sounds normal, and car performance seems OK.

  I've heard question marks on the Audi's reliability and the 96 SE he's looking at has done 107k, while the 97 Mazda has done just 82k and we've not heard of any problems with this model. I like the looks of the Mazda, but I have to admit, the Audi interior is a good one...both are clean, tidy cars from what we saw, and have what he called critical conditioning (ac).

  Hi I am looking at changing my car (present K reg Citroen ZX 1.4 Avantage which has had a whole heap of problems - shot driveshafts, oil leaks etc.) and am considering an older 89-94 Mazda 323F, probably 1.6GLXi, as I have always kinda liked the styling of these cars. I have researched the market and these cars seem a pretty good bet, sound mechanics etc. Does anyone have any views on these and are there any known bad problems I should be aware of.

  She already knows what she wants and has got the list down to just two cars and is struggling to pick between the two , test driving did not help either as she likes both.    She's between the Seat Areca and the Mazda CX-5. She currently drives a Seat Mii and is happy with her little seat but she's expecting her third child so needs something a little bigger. She like the areca as it ticks her boxes and she gets to stay with seat as she's been happy with there service so far but then she really likes the CX-5 as well as Mazda are more reliable than seat and it also ticks all her boxes but she read some reviews on auto trader and most if not all were very positive for the Areca but the CX-5 had a lot of  bad reviews so she's unsure which to pick.

  I have been running the car without issue for the last three years, and have covered about 8000 miles in total, short journeys to work etc. I have put the car through its annual service for the last two years as required by Mazda at a Mazda garage. I'm wondering, with the car at nearly 8 years old and only having covered relatively few miles both in total and the past twelve months, (office move meant commuting wasn't needed) is it really worthwhile having the full service carried out ?

  Only reason i ask is because my solicitor has directly requested internal job cards from the dealer for anytime my car went into them, they have only replied back with what looks like is receipts - the ones i already have from them. That cannot be the job cards right? Also, what are the responsibilities of RAC and Mazda dealer to note down the mileage on every collection or drop off? Do they legally have to write this down on their files? One more question, my argument is with the selling dealer. On the other hand my car has also been into my local Mazda dealer, am i legally entitled to telephone my local dealer and ask them questions about my car?
