eyup i have an L reg nissan D21 pickup [For those who dont know, this is an older, uglier navara] and, as stated the revs, speedo and odomiter dont work at all. the rest of the dash, guages/lights etc work fine. also, when i put it into 4 wheel drive, there is no light on the dash to inform me i have done so, as there is on most 4x4's. is there supposed to be one on this model??? and could these problems be related? thanks in advance. -
Citroen C5 - Battery run down by 12v socket? 18 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I recently lent a friend my '02 Citroen C5, Petrol, to be driven on a long journey to Scotland. The 12V socket had an ipod plugged into it and after about 45 min of driving it refused to go above 35mph and eventually the battery light came on. Once the ipod was unplugged everything worked ok again? Am I right in thinking the alternator should be charging the battery while the car is moving? -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 03 1.4 Jumping out of 2nd gear on overun 16 Mar 2010 (Forum)
We have a fiesta which occassionally drops out of 2nd Gear on the overun in low speed driving. This has been happening now for 18 months and with the annual Ford service imminent, I am wondering whether to ask the dealer to adjust the gear change, with 35000 genuine miles i would be surprised if there is much wear in the gearbox. -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.8 TDDi - Heater only heats when engine is rev 3 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi All, As per the title, the heater in my Missus' Focus is only blowing out hot air when the engine is revved - when driving at low revs, it blows only cold air. The fan settings on the heater work fine, it's the temperature that isn't. Anyone any ideas on why this might be happening? Many thanks, Pootle -
Is this the highest mileage on an MPV (HDi)? 24 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi there, I'm driving a Citroen Synergie HDI 2.0 and was recently getting twitchy about the mileage, I'm up to 140k. But browsing the web last night I spotted another HDI Synergie with 398,500 miles!!! (on www.mpvcar.co.uk). -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 00 1.8 Steering making knocking sound 17 Jan 2010 (Forum)
It looks to me (and sounds) like the coil spring turning around bit by bit as the wheels moves. Its on the drivers side (car also pulls to this side slightly when driving) Is this common? Is it dangerous? What do I need to do to fix it? Cheers, Neil -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.8 turbo diesel loss of power & noise 13 Jan 2010 (Forum)
noise increases with rpm and sounds like a piece of metal would in the spokes of a moving bicycle. the noise also 'runs on' after the throttle has been released when driving. i am thinking it is something to do with the turbo but would appreciate any advice on being able to pinpoint the problem. -
slowing down in the 21st century 11 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Well i have a message for these new world teachers of fashion--- --------how many accidents have you caused with this bad teaching this last week with all the snow we have had had? If people as pupils of driving schools were taught that in certain situations ie in snow that the gearbox could be their friend then i reckon a lot of claims could have been avoided -

Citroen Berlingo Multispace (1998 - 2010) - 01 1.9 Heater blower failure 4 Jan 2010 (Forum)
My auxiliary drive belt shredded itself (tensioner problem I think) while I was de-icing the car outside the house. Now the fan blower does not work and I'm sure it was running at the end of the last journey. I know there could be many reasons (the fuses all appear OK both under the dash and under the bonnet) but is there a common problem with this on the Berlingo? -

Council turned down claim for broken spring. 18 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Driving over a "defect" in a local road I broke the o/s front roadspring on my Smart Roadster-Coupe. I made a claim which the council have now declined to pay. The reason for their refusal is that they inspected the road within a month before the incident and their inspection concluded that the "defect" that broke my spring was not sufficient to cause damage to vehicles. -

Volkswagen Polo III (2000 - 2002) - 01 1.4 Car Horn Goes off By Itself! 24 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I have a VW Polo (2001). My car horn has started going off by itself, whilst driving. It's usually a few short, sharp beeps. It's becoming increasingly embarrassing! Anyone know what could be the problem? Is there any way to disconnect the horn for the time being until I can get it looked at? -
Subaru Legacy and Outback Petrol (2004 - 2009) - 2.0 - Fuel economy around town 23 Nov 2009 (Forum)
AT 70mph this delivers me an indicated 35mpg (borne out by brim-to-brim), and at an indicated 80 it delivers an indicated 31-32 (again borne out by brim-to-brim). But around town I can watch the fuel gauge falling as I drive. I doubt it's delivering 10mpg. Is this normal? In the sort of traffic that takes 30 minutes to cover 5 miles across the centre of town. -
Mazda Mazda 6 (2008 -) - 2.0 diesel servicing costs 18 Nov 2009 (Forum)
One of the cars that is on my shortlist as an eventual replacement for my faithful Pug is a Mazda 2.0d (or preferably the 2.2d) Mazda 6 (it's a short list containg a Skoda VRS or the Mazda) However, as I've perused various forums I've picked up on comments that Mazda's are very expensive to service. Does anybody drive and maintain one. I've spent £132 in the last two years servicing the Peugeot. I don't fancy a hefty increase.
