  • Land Rover powerless to stop Chinese "copy and paste" Evoque 24 Apr 2015 (News)
Around a quarter of JLR’s global sales are to the Chinese market; the company’s decision to open the factory in Changshu, near the south-east coast of China, was partly to avoid vast import taxes incurred by sending British-built cars to the country. But despite that, the Landwind X7 dramatically undercuts the Evoque in China, with the copycat SUV retailing at around £16,000, compared to £40-50,000 for the Evoque proper.
  • Review: Gecko Pad 30 Mar 2015 (News)
A wash in warm soapy water removes any grime or fluff and restores the pad to its best, though a smart place to dry it is important – if you dry it flat on the kitchen counter it’ll want to stay there and you’ll get it grimy again peeling it off. It’s better left in a plate drying rack. We’ve been using the same Gecko Pad for around four months and though it does need semi-regular washing it is still as sticky now as it was when it was new – and it hasn’t left any of its residue behind on phones, cars or hands.

  • A Grand Monday: Montego Mayfair 28 Apr 2014 (News)
So, giving it the benefit of the doubt - and ignoring the disappointing sales figures it posted when new - here's a potentially excellent example of a truly brilliant car that reaches an important classic car landmark. What I do like about this one is its low mileage - with just 25,000 miles on the clock, it's obviously been looked after and cherished, which is no bad thing. Although it's named after one of the most exclusive boroughs in London, this Montego forgoes the leather interior you'd find in a Vanden Plas or GSi, which is a bit of a shame, although for those who love the 1980s and live to recall Thatcher's decade, the velour in this one will do very nicely, thank you very much.
